I saw tonight that Hazle Twp. has sold their Mack MR/KME rescue, have they (or are they going to) replace it with anything?

  Denver Marijuana Fire 5-7-13
Posted by: Guest - 05-08-2013, 03:03 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (22)

Just before 6 am Denver Engine 9 was dispatched to an outside smoke investigation at 3888 East 45th Avenue in a north Denver warehouse district.  Two minutes later a full group assignment was sent to 4430 North Garfield Street (just around the corner) for a reported structure fire.  T9 reported light smoke showing from a commercial strip, E9 laid in and advanced a line as did E10.  E3 laid to the Charlie side alley where T15 started to force entry.  The rear door was fortified with 1/2 welded steel and the front window had been bricked over.  Companies inside quickly knocked the main body of fire but additional fire was found in the cockloft and venting from the roof.  The incident was under control within 30 minutes with no extension to the exposures.

First one walking up, looking down the alley.  E26 reversed laid a second supply from E3, just in case.

  Southern Maryland VFA Convention Parade
Posted by: taurudak - 05-06-2013, 03:56 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (68)

Got a chance to go the the Southern MD Volunteer Firemen's Association parade in Leonardtown yesterday.  For those unaware, the SMVFA comprises the three southernmost counties (at least on the western shore of the Chesapeake Bay) - Charles, Calvert and St. Mary's Counties.

I know a lot of you aren't into parade pics, but I've been doing it for about 40 years now and don't plan to stop anytime soon (as long as I wake up on the right side of the dirt!)  Anyway, it was a beautiful day with over 170 pieces in the parade (I didn't take all of them) and I'll put a few of them up on here.  All the rest that I took can be seen in my Smugmug thing.

Starting with a few from the host company, Leonardtown, Eng 11 is a 2010 Pierce Arrow XT 1250/750/30.

  Istanbul, Turkey
Posted by: firesafe91 - 05-06-2013, 12:03 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (12)

I had an opportunity this afternoon to grab two shots of opportunity while in Istanbul, Turkey on business. I had two types of rigs that I wanted to seek out on this trip. One was a Ferrara Strong Arm and the other was one of these unique rigs. I didn't see a Ferrara, but saw a photo of one on the station wall.

The 6x6 chassis and cab were assembled by GPV in Michigan (assume this is a Spartan cab). The rescue body was built by Magirus. Rosenbauer also built some pumpers on this chassis. Pretty unique apparatus. It has a crane on the back and a plow attachment on the front for moving earthquake debris.

Here is some more information on this unique rig (the Internet is a wonderful tool).

Wish I could have gotten better shots and taken a look in the compartments, but I don't think my driver was into fire buffing.

  2nd Alarm in Portland, 2 houses + 5-2-13
Posted by: Guest - 05-03-2013, 11:51 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (4)

At 0058 a box was transmitted for a residential fire at 7201 SE 34th Ave. It was reported as a shed on fire.

The assignment was E20,E25, E9, E11, Truck 25, C4 and C1.

Engine 20 reported a shed fully involved, spreading to adjacent buildings and ordered a 2nd alarm. The fire spread to a garage and to the homes on both sides of the garage and shed.

Second alarm response was E21, E4, E13, E19, Truck 4, Squad 1, C2, C3, C103, C405, Rehab 10, the PIO and both on-duty investigators.

The steep roof and limited access to the rear of the buildings were problems at this fire.

The first photo was taken later, but shows the overall scene.

They had to break down the fence to get to the rear.
