Posted by: Firebuff1991 - 09-23-2020, 05:09 PM - Forum: Photo Requests-NO IMAGES IN THIS FORUM! - Replies (2)

What did the fire apparatus from the Ontario, California Fire Department look like from past eras (including the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and then on) to present day and which brands were the apparatus assigned to throughout time? May I please see them? Thank you!

Today is a happy sweet 16 to Firepics.net

What started as a successor to a Yahoo group grew into what was once the largest online community of fire photographers on the internet.  It's slowed down with the introduction of social media, but it's still here plugging along.

Thank you to those who have stuck it out.

Red is still the correct color for fire trucks, but...
Posted by: FL DAVE - 09-18-2020, 01:01 PM - Forum: Non-Fire Service related - No Replies

Years ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Dave Organ, John Antonelli, and a few others for a short tour around north Florida. I'm not sure if John is still posting here, but he is/was a huge proponent of lime green fire trucks. I, however, am not. While I do believe red is still the correct color for fire trucks, John would be pleased to know that I have officially requested an order for a C8 Corvette in the color shown below.  Smile

Hope you guys are staying well!

Dave

Mount Laurel Motel Fire 9-15-2020 Hazle Township, PA
Posted by: nozzleman - 09-16-2020, 08:28 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (8)

Between 5:45 am and 6:30 am on Tuesday, 15-September-2020 the Hazle Township and Harwood Fire Company were tone out for a commercial structure fire at the Mount Laurel Motel on Route 309 just outside of the City of Hazleton.

Engine 141-2 was the first on the scene and called for additional Tankers since the closest Hydrant was over 2000 feet. The fire was limited one room and was out within 5 minutes of the first arriving company. When I got to the scene 10 to 15 minutes after they arrived they had the fire out and were doing overhaul.

The rigs out on Route 309 when I arrived on the scene. Trescrow, Hazle Township Tanker 106, Harwood Fire Company Tanker 241, and Harwood Fire Company Engine 241-1 Parked on the shoulder of Route 309.

  9-11 Memorial Service--Hazleton, PA

I am lucky of late, I am out on permanent disability due to lung issues and I am able to work as a Stringer for the local news paper. Now the pay is not great but heck I really enjoy it.

I was given an assignment this past week to cover the 2020 9-11 Memorial Service that the Hazleton Fire Department has every year. It was a very sad and gut wrenching event.

I arrived at the ceremony early so that I would be able to catch it as they arrived and set up.

Right after I arrived, but before I had the camera out of the car the firefighter in charge of the event put the flag at half mast.

(I put this thread here because I though this was the best place for it.)

Posted by: nozzleman - 08-18-2020, 11:19 PM - Forum: Announcements - No Replies

The Harwood Fire Company in the Hazleton Pa area is having their 20th Annual Harwood Fire Company Bazaar this weekend starting with a Fireman's Parade on Friday at 7 pm with the judging and viewing of rigs starting at 5:30 pm at Bowl Arena Parking lot. Looks like a great time and with so many events canceled this year it is very much anticipated.

2020 Pierce Enforcer 107' TT Aerial.  Put into service yesterday, Sunday August 17, 2020 as Carmel's second ladder company.  To best of my knowledge Indiana has three active tillers.  Two in Carmel and one in Indianapolis.

8-13-20 135 W. Cranberry Ave, West Hazleton, PA Car vs Gas Meter
Posted by: nozzleman - 08-13-2020, 10:28 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (2)

West Hazleton Fire Department was toned out to a car vs Gas meter and building this afternoon that led to a few minutes of concern. The vehicle driven by a female driver came around the corner and swerved to avoid another car jumped the curb and hit and sheared off a gas meter and did minor damage to the building.

West Hazleton Fire Department Engine 183-2 was the first on the scene and had to deal with spectators in and around the the area by the gar and the sheared off gas meter along with people still in the surrounding building. Everyone was evacuated without incident and the Gas company was able to shut the gas off without any fire or explosions.

Gas company employees survey the damage to the gas meter and lines after the gas was shut off and the vehicle was removed. You can see the gas meters sitting sheared off past the employees.
