We got hit by a Tornado at approximately 1445hrs Eastern Time. Right now Orange County Fire Rescue & Orlando Fire Department units are getting slammed with a pretty big call backlog.  Not much photo's of the storm as I was getting things ready. Photo's are of some units running around and some damage made.

  Vintage Bucks County, PA Videos
Posted by: IrishTruckie - 03-23-2013, 10:36 PM - Forum: Videos - Replies (3)

2013 is the 100th Anniversary of the Bucks County Fire Chief's and Fire Fighters Assoc.

The two organizations were separate and distinct, with the Bucks County Fireman's Assoc. being founded first in 1913.

They were merged into one organization several years ago

Attached are videos that have been provided  by long time friends, that detail a glimpse of the Bucks County Fire Service in the 1940's and 1950's

Fire Fighter Steven Reeves of Bristol Consolidated Fire Co. , Bucks County Station 50, has provided the video of the 1948 Bucks County Fireman's Parade,  it originally was a 16 MM Color film that has long been in the possession of his family, and is now his.

I had a thread about this on the old boards years ago and it seemed to work really well.  I figured I would start up another one to see if any of you know where some of these demo trucks I've shot over the years ended up being sold to...  Feel free to chime in with any of your photos as well!

Rollover & Chopper Go, Aurora CO 3/21/13
Posted by: Guest - 03-22-2013, 03:35 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (12)

On Thursday night around 19:45 the companies in my area were dispatched to a rollover accident with entrapment at Smoky Hill Road and Saddle Rock Trail.  While enroute the Battalion Chief requested a chopper on ground standby.  First arriving Rural Metro Medic 106 found a two car MVA with one on it's side and a party trapped.  After a quick evaluation command declared a chopper go.  Engine Co. 13 assisted with patient care and stretched a protection line while Truck 14 took stabilized the car and too the roof.

I left home when they put the chopper on standby and arrived just before they landed (they had a 3 minute flight time from their base)

Haz-Mat Lincoln, RI CCRI Campus White Powder Scare March 8, 2013
Posted by: NRIfirePhotos - 03-21-2013, 05:10 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (6)

Lincoln, RI ~ An envelope was mailed to the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) Nursing Program that contained an unknown white powder substance on March 8, 2013.  The envelope was opened and the victim inhaled the product. The staff called 911 and reported that someone suffered an inhalation injury and did not relay the white powder story. A security guard took the envelope from the nursing office on the second floor and walked it through the common areas to the first floor and then outside to meet the responding firefighters.

The first responders radioed that they had an unknown hazardous material incident containing an unknown white powder. The regional haz-mat team from Woonsocket FD and a decon team from the North Providence FD responded to assist. The school fire alarm was activated to clear the non-contaminated areas of staff and students. The people that were in the area of the envelope were placed in a room for isolation.

None of the isolated victims were complaining of breathing difficulty as they waited for the teams to arrive. The North Providence Decon Team arrived first and set up the washing station on the South side of the complex near door 2. Woonsocket Fire’s haz-mat equipment pulled up to the decon area and set up for monitoring the hot zone. Technicians donned Level-B exposure suits and SCBA to move in to exam the envelope.

A 12-step evaluation process was conducted on the envelope. The substance was determined to be a dextrose-based sweetener. Once the 3rd test on the envelope proved the same results the victims were allowed outside with out needing to be decontaminated.  The RI State Police, US Postal Inspectors, DEM, and the RI EMA also responded to the scene. The case is under investigation.

3rd Alarm East Providence, RI 106 Walnut St March 2, 2013
Posted by: NRIfirePhotos - 03-21-2013, 05:02 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (7)

East Providence, RI – A faulty extension cord was deemed the cause of this 3rd Alarm of Fire in a large Victorian style dwelling at 106 Walnut St on March 2, 2013. The fire appeared to have started on the second floor of this eight (8)-room boarding house that was converted from a single family dwelling in the 1970’s.

First due companies had heavy fire venting from windows on the second floor as they arrived. Hand lines were stretched into action to begin an aggressive interior fire attack. The fire was traveling through the balloon-framed walls and void spaces to the floors above. Firefighters on the 3rd floor radioed a “Mayday” as they were cut off by heavy fire that was rapidly extending upwards.

An aerial ladder was extended to a window on the Bravo side to act as a fire escape so the members could safely exit the structure before the room ignited. The window they escaped from was now starting to show heavy smoke as the descended down to the turntable of the truck.

The OIC had all on duty city companies on scene with mutual aid covering the empty firehouses. The fire began to burn through 3rd floor, attic and then through the roof. A defensive operation was ordered using several big lines, deck guns, and 2 ladder pipes.

The chief placed the fire under control around 0300hrs some 6hrs after arriving on scene. All of the 6 residents made it out safely and one firefighter suffered a minor injury during the battle.
