Utica NY 1949 American LaFrance pumper
Posted by: John Kenealy - 03-12-2013, 08:04 AM - Forum: Member's Rigs/restoration Projects - Replies (7)

I am on the board of a civic organization called Engine 11, its purpose is to support the Utica FD.  Every year, the group hosts a dinner to honor the Firefighter of the year as selected by the Chief, and the retirees from the present year.

We are also restoring this 1949 American LaFrance,  which is still owned by the city.  It served as Engine 5, and then in reserve for many years as Engine 8.  This photo was pre-restoration.  One question I have is regarding a source of parts especially at this time, the rear fenders need replacing.

I tried to visit the ALF Owners website, but registration is not open at this time.  There are some current posts which may seem helpful, but without registering, the contact info is not viewable.

Anyone here a member of that site?  Or who might have a line on some parts for this truck?

Thanks.

John Kenealy

  Chimney Fire, Brixham, UK
Posted by: Guest - 03-12-2013, 05:58 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (8)

Came upon a small chimney fire this morning at Rose Acre Terrace and Rea Barn Road in Brixham after the school drop off. Just appliance shots as the fire was already extinguished. This is "Victor" 21 Pumper 2 from Devon and Somerset Fire Rescue, a 1990 MAN/Saxon. "Victor" is the nationwide identifier for DSFR, 21 is the number of the Brixham fire station which has two pumps.

Hi everyone,

I'm going to be travelling to Cocoa Beach, FL in a few days for a week long vacation.

Anyone have any input concerning which departments might be interesting ?

Any good/bad experiences around there trying to shoot some pictures of trucks ?

Is it worth taking the trip to tour the E\-One factory in Ocala ?

Thanks

The Service Securite Incendie de Montreal (SIM)/ Montreal Fire Department is celebrating its 150th anniversary in 2013. The celebrations will be highlighted by a grand fire apparatus parade which is being organized by the Pompiers Auxiliaires de Montreal (Montreal Auxiliary Firemen) on June 15, 2013.

We are inviting everyone to participate especially those who can come with apparatus to participate in the parade.

If any one needs further information please PM me and I will get the information.  We hope that many pixers will come North to our fair city.

  Centennial, CO Chimney Fire 03/10/13
Posted by: Guest - 03-10-2013, 01:16 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (10)

About an hour into the shift today we caught a small chimney fire.  First due Engine 33 found nothing showing on arrival, upon making entry light smoke conditions were found and wheelchair bound residents needed assistance getting out.  Flames were found burning in the wall behind the mantle and a working fire was declared brining more units.  The fire was declared unter control within 20 minutes with minor extension up the wall.

  Tillered Rescue with a Crane
Posted by: Guest - 03-09-2013, 03:10 PM - Forum: Apparatus Photos - Replies (23)

Portland Fire & Rescue has received a new tillered rescue truck, believed to be the first tillered rescue

with a crane ever made. If anyone knows of another, please let us know.

Squad 1 is a Pierce Arrow XT model truck, similar to a tillered ladder truck, but a few feet shorter.

The crane is an IMT Model 30-217K8, built by Pierce's sister company, the Iowa Mold Tooling Co.

At the maximum extension of 69 feet it can lift 1435 pounds, but at the minimum extension it can lift 22,045 pounds.

Squad 1 is in the familiarization and training stage before going into service in the next few weeks.

Posted by: Guest - 03-07-2013, 04:01 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (8)

Just after midnight on 3/7 Fall River PD came upon a fire in the rear of a house on Plymouth Ave. Fall River FD transmitted Box 1351 sending Engines 4,2,3, Ladder 2 and Rescue 1 with Car 3 in command. Crews found a shed fire fully involved to the rear of the house and extending thru the house. Engine 5 was sent a RIT and Ladder 4 was added to the assignment followed shortly by a 2nd Alarm. Engines 7 & 9 went on the 2nd Alarm. While doing a seach of the house ff's became trapped on the upper floors and called a mayday. All members were pulled from the build as the trapped ff's bailed out a window and were transported to Rhose Island Hospital. A roll call was done and all members were accounted for. Command requested an additional Ladder bring Platform 1 to the fire. Crews worked for the next couple hours in a defensive mode to quell the blaze
