  "Chicago Fire"
Posted by: Cyber - 01-19-2013, 04:11 AM - Forum: Q & A - Replies (9)

I know there are folks who aren't a fan of this TV show, but I'm gonna ask anyways.

Now I KNOW that tactical stuff is BASED on but not necessarily PROTOCOL since it is a TV show and all...

...but I finally caught up on the series and wondered about the scene where FF Cruz leaves the gang leader to die in the fire. I know NONE of you have (and hopefully never will be) in a situation like that, but hypothetically speaking, what would you do if you were Cruz?

Truck & Helicopter Crash, Perth Australia 01/19/2013
Posted by: Guest - 01-19-2013, 03:19 AM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (4)

A CHANNEL 10 cameraman and truck driver are in hospital after a helicopter crashed whilst filming a truck crash east of Perth.

An Australian Transport Safety Bureau spokesman said they had received preliminary reports that the Bell 206 helicopter hit the ground hard while it was filming a traffic incident at Baskerville.

The spokesman said initial advice was that the helicopter sustained substantial damage.

A Dept Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the helicopter was on its side in a paddock with the tail section broken off.

The helicopter was understood to be filming a truck rollover on Weir Road when the crash happened at about 11am.

The cameraman has been taken to Royal Perth Hospital for observation, with ABC Radio reporting he may have suffered spinal injuries.

The pilot escaped uninjured whilst the driver of the truck was airlifted by RAC to hospital.

Police and firefighters are at the scene.

  4-Hour Extrication in Portland 1-16-13
Posted by: Guest - 01-16-2013, 07:06 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (23)

At 0346 Engines 4, 3, Truck 4 and Batt. Chief 1 were dispatched to a report of a person trapped between a 1-story garage and a multi-story building at 1240 SW Columbia St. in downtown Portland. From the garage roof, we were able to see a young lady in the approximately 7 to 9-inch space between the buildings. She had fallen from the roof into that space.

The incident was upgraded to a confined space rescue, bringing Eng. 1, Truck 1, the Heavy Rescue Squad 1 and other specialized equipment.

Since there was no access, a large opening had to be cut in the cement block garage wall. The cutting generated a large amount of dust so they had to stop several times to clear the air to make sure she did not have any breathing problems.

Lt. Rich Chatman is in the opened wall helping the victim. This is Rich's last regular shift and tomorrow he starts as our new PIO.

  Parts Bin
Posted by: Guest - 01-16-2013, 05:44 PM - Forum: Line Art and Other Drawings - No Replies

I thought we could use a section dedicated to misc. parts. I know there have been times where I have seen a small little part and havent been able to find it again.

This section is for those "rare" pieces, emergency lighting, color samples. Anything you think fits, just not actual truck drawings.

Ill start off with a few lighting choices by Code3.

360 photos of a Structure Fire
Posted by: mcleck - 01-15-2013, 06:22 PM - Forum: Photo Requests-NO IMAGES IN THIS FORUM! - No Replies

All:

I'm looking for photos to use in a training/tactical evaluation. I'm ideally looking for pictures of all 4 sides of the building (preferably residential) within a short period of time, with fire and/or smoke showing, with limited fire department activity.

Anyone who can help or point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

  City of Syracuse Chooses KME

Looks like Syracuse is going with KME Engines with "Firestix" 55' ladder/elevated waterway.

I know Syracuse loves their Sutphens....is the KME order because Sutphen doesn't offer a elevated waterway/light duty ladder product? Hopefully Chief Reeves will fill us in.

Two House Fires, Metro Denver 1/15/13
Posted by: Guest - 01-15-2013, 03:34 PM - Forum: Fire Scene Photos - Replies (16)

On Monday morning Littleton Engine 17 was dispatched to a residential fire alarm. While responding neighbors called 911 and reported black smoke from the roof and an elderly female inside. E17 found smoke & flames showing from the bravo & charlie sides of what they thought was a garage extension. The elderly occupant was assited out by neighbors and was quickly transported for smoke inhalation. A 1 3/4 line was advanced to the charlie side where a transitional attack was used. A second 1 3/4 was taken through the alpha side of the house which was found with moderate smoke on all floors. The fire was placed under control within 15 minutes and held to a "mother-in-law suite" that had been added to the first level.
