Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 I debated about putting this under the Midwest topic, but there are quite a few photos and I thought that warranted it's own. What started out being a quick visit to one Stillwater station ended up being a day long series of stops at all the stations. I must express my thanks to all the Officers and Firefighters with the Stillwater FD who were gracious enough to take time out of their day to move apparatus around and answer my questions. Stillwater Station 1 - 1506 South Main St. - Engine 1, Rescue 1, Truck 1, Battalion 1, Brush 1, Various Support Units Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Stillwater Engine 1 (Unit 35) 2008 Ferrara Inferno 1500/1000 Production #BR1498 This and another identical rig were purchased used from Ferrara. It was rejected by it's original Department and returned to Ferrara for rehab, repainting and subsequent sale to Stillwater. These rigs were originally sold to the St. Tammany Parish, LA Fire District #4 north of New Orleans, and were originally a shade of yellow. Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Stillwater Rescue 1 1997 Simon-Duplex/Saulsbury 250/300/30 I couldn't find a tag on this one, so I don't have a S/N. This rig is cross-staffed with the Ladder at Station 1. I was told that the Saulsbury body will probably be mounted on a new chassis in the future, since the Simon-Duplex chassis is pretty worn out, but the body is in good condition. Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Stillwater Truck 1 (Unit 44) 1996 Pierce Lance 1500/300/105' RM S/N E-9957 It originally ran as Truck 2 from the campus station and ran on every fire call. Now it runs only when needed and is cross-staffed by Rescue 1. It parks behind the Battalion chief vehicle. It sports a picture of "Pistol Pete", the OSU mascot, on the boom. Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Stillwater Battalion 1 2009 (ish) Ford F-250 There are a few other support vehicles at Station 1, including a Ford F-350 brush truck (one of several), a Chevy light 4x4 pickup and an Oklahoma State-owned tractor-trailer (I'm not sure if it was USAR or Hazmat). I was in a hurry and didn't stop to photograph them; my mistake. Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Stillwater Fire Station 2 - 600 W. University Ave (on the OSU Campus). This building is owned by OSU and is on a 100-year lease to the FD, until 2030 or so. It houses 1 engine, 1 reserve, 2 brush trucks and 1 technical rescue tractor-trailer that doesn't move much, so I'm told. Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Stillwater Engine 2 (Unit 37) 1999 Pierce Dash 1500/750 S/N ED-537 I was told it was built on a shorter chassis for maneuverability around the OSU campus, so then why a top-mount panel? Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Reserve Engine (x-Engine 3) 1990 Ford F-800/Smeal 1000/1000 S/N 092221 This is an interesting rig. One of two purchased in 1989/1990, I was told that the Chief at the time wanted them bought quickly, due to the pending NFPA requirements for completely closed cabs. The other rig was identical, except that, due to drivability issues (light front end) with the 1000 gallon water tank, the other one had to be baffled down to 500 gallons. This is the only one left. Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Reserve Engine - Officer's side Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Unit 52 (Brush 2) 1997 IHC 4800/Shop built 4x4 150/1200 (I've also seen references to a 250gpm pump; not sure which it is) I didn't bother asking them to move out the brush trucks, since I was in a hurry to get to the other stations. Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Unit 55 (2nd Brush truck at Station 2) 2003 Ford F-350/Olinghouse 350/150/100a Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Tech Rescue tractor-trailer. 2001 IHC 4400/Swinford (local builder) trailer. This rig used to live outside behind Station 1, until they made enough room at Station 2 to move it. Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Stillwater Fire Station 3 - 416 E. Lakeview St. Quint, Brush, Reserve Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Stillwater Truck 3 2005 Sutphen 1500/300/70' Minitower (I've also seen references to a 500gwt; I'm not sure which it is). S/N HS-4052 This rig runs as a quint with 3 or 4 people. It assumes either engine or truck responsibilities, dependent upon need. Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 Reserve Engine (x-Engine 1) - Unit 38 1994 E\-One Sentry 1250/1000gwt S/N 13031 This rig is a fully equipped reserve, but also runs first out for rural fires in Station 3's area. Stillwater, Oklahoma F.D. - Image7801 - 06-06-2012 I thought the lighted "SFD" logo on the front was cool.
