BTY, Do you know if Billy Morgan is still up there?
Yes as a matter of fact Billy was at the station doing some painting. His son Brian also stopped by for a few minutes. -Paul Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - Guest - 07-19-2009 Hanover E4. Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - Guest - 07-19-2009 Richmond Q5. Great pictures Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - Truckman - 07-20-2009
Has Richmond gone away from the Roto-Ray?
Not at this time. When this ride was bought, a Fairfax light was placed on the nose. Time will tell. Rumors say going back to the Mars 888 but others say staying with Roto-Ray. BTW there is a Richmond Apparatus Thread in here. Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - VFN102 - 07-20-2009
Richmond Q5. I ran across these guys as they were posing the truck for photos for ideas for a company patch.
I have always wanted to get some Richmond pics with the old Ethyl Corporation building as a background. Just never been by there at various times of day to see when is best to catch the sun in the right position. I am guessing these pics were taken with the building facing the James River, so I don't know if the sun would ever swing around behind you. They were told that most likely neither would be on future apparatus due to the cost of those warning lights. We did use 2nd street by the Virginia War Memorial as well, parking the rides on the street and having Ethyl's building as a back ground and aslo several downtown buildings too. It's the second out engine at Rockville and also serves as the County's Westend reserve. Rockville Engine 9-2 1987 Seagrave JB 1250/750 S/N T-79712
Paul, is this a brand new station for 11?? When I was in the county a couple of months back doing station photos, Station 11 was a small 3-bay building that was still occupied. just curious Chris |
