This 2003 Seagrave 1500/300/100 foot will be repainted black over red in 2016. This ran as Unit 2.

The new rescue replaced 2 trucks including this 1992 Grumman/Almonte equipment truck.

Canada Eh? - Guest - 11-04-2015

The other rig replaced by the new rescue was this very unique 2001 GMC W5500/Almonte 350/300/30.

Quote:The Town of Carleton Place, Ontario is an hour west of Ottawa, and is home to the Ocean Wave Fire Company and Eastway Emergency Vehicles.  The Ocean Wave Fire Company runs out of a single station and has a full time Chief, Deputy Chief and 2 Fire Prevention/Fire Fighters, along with a complement of volunteer firefighters.  They just placed this new rescue in service in August, and this is the first to be painted with the black over red paint scheme.  The 2010 Spartan Gladiator 3 door chassis was originally a tri-axle, one of several that were produced, but never utilized.  OWFC purchased the truck at a greatly reduced rate, had 2 of the axles removed and Eastway constructed the rescue/command body in 2015. Eastway is constructing a new pumper that should be delivered within the next 8 weeks.  Plans are to paint their Seagrave ladder black over red in 2016.

Rescue 240 is a 2010 Spartan Gladiator/2015 Eastway heavy rescue/command.
Here is a youtube link of what they were.

With the announcement today that Eastway has closed its doors, there may be a delay in Ocean Wave Fire Company's new pumper, or they may be out of luck completely and have to start over.

Unless Neil buys it again and comes back with a different name. Maybe he will ressurect the name Almonte Fire Trucks.

If that doesn't happen , then maybe a US firm will invest in it because of  the low Canadian dollar.

The 1985 Kenworth/Thibault has already been disposed of by the department.   Last seen for sale by a used Fire Apparatus dealer in the New Brunswick area.

It's nice to see that someone could make a useful vehicle from the former Quebec City inflated mini-pumpers. They were a great idea (in theory) when they were running as a 2-piece company along with a quint, but never really used effectively. The worst idea was when they would split the 2-piece company and send the mini with 2 guys to cover an empty station. There was not much they could do arriving at a working fire with 2 guys and a "mini" when the next due company was 5 to 10 minutes behind them.
