I could use some stuff... Relics - GA_Dave - 04-23-2009 Quote:Allegany ALF 700 ladder That's Allegany, NY, near Olean. Anyone know what they replaced it with? Relics - GA_Dave - 04-23-2009 Quote:North Braddock VFD # 3 1967 Ward LaFrance 1000 gpm/500. Thanks for sending me the Spec Number from this one. This is a Model P75-1000GM-5, a rare, low-cost series that used the Ultravision cab and a GM gas motor. I only have been able to track down about three of these so far. They were known to be underpowered, explaining the switch to a Mack diesel on this one. It's a shame that it has ended up this way. Relics - Guest - 04-23-2009
 Mt. Aetna ALF ladder.
Actually it's x-Mt Aetna VFD in Washington County, Maryland (Co.16) Keystone took it in trade for a rebuilt 1982 Alf Century from Cherry Hill,NJ almost 15 years ago. The rig was originally a 700-series with a 900 or 1000 series cab added before Mt Aetna got it. Relics - Guest - 04-23-2009 i never knew they had 2 american lafrance cab trucks, they still have one in service as engine 11-3
Beaver Falls Engine 1.
Relics - Guest - 04-24-2009 Relics - bige1998 - 04-26-2009 Found this old Ward LaFrance in Orlando, Florida near Orange County Station 52. I could net get to close as it was in a used car lot. -Eric Relics - bige1998 - 04-26-2009 This was the only identifier I could find without getting to close on the truck above. Relics - bige1998 - 04-26-2009 Posted somewhere in here someone had asked about a fire truck grave yard that has developed in Georgia on I-95 N/B in the area of Mile Marker 62. Having had the info, when I went by it I marked it in my GPS and went off hunting. I came across this company Firehouse 66 Inc. http://www.firehouse66inc.com/ Being Easter Sunday the place was locked up tight. So on they way back north I was able to shoot these photos from the car of the field in question. There were quite a few Florida rigs in the lot including Miami-Dade and Jacksonville rigs. There were also a lot of ARFF units, but I can't remember where any of them were from. Relics - matchot - 04-28-2009 This 1969 Sanford Engine used to serve the White Springs, NY FD in Ontario County. At the time I took these pictures in 2003 it was sitting on the side of State Route 96 just outside of the Ontario/Seneca County Line, and was for sale. Last time I went through that area, it was no longer there back in 2007, so it may have either been scrapped, or sold. Relics - Shoe - 04-30-2009
This 1968 WLF is sitting in a wrecker lot in Acworth, GA. I stopped in to ask some questions. I've been watching it at another lot in the other end of town, but could never get in to look at it or take pictures. The kid behind the counter told me that it was being held until scrap prices go back up. It's a shame! Unfortunately it has been sitting outside for more than 10 years and it is in terrible shape. It could be restored, but it would take a huge effort. Here is what little that I know: 1968 WLF Ultravision Open cab Waterloo (?) F.D. Also has a Maltese cross with "EHFD" Engine 2 It also had "The Hustler" on the top of the doors. Hale pump - Serial number 28724 750 GPM "OLD 75" "Old 16-9.5" 80-248 Does anyone have any more info on her?
I tried to contact East Hampton, NY to see if they had any interest in saving her. I could not get a call back... It looks like we are going to lose this ole girl... Now they are in the "brush truck business" which accounts for the newer AM-G deuce and a halfs in the photos. The P-23 is a rare bird since the only civilian running them was Tallahasee Int'l that I knew of. Don't know about the Walters though. I was able to find pictures of a WLF P75 Brochure using Google, but I have never heard about this rare and unique model designation. Relics - GA_Dave - 05-02-2009 Quote:Who else had these? I was able to find pictures of a WLF P75 Brochure using Google, but I have never heard about this rare and unique model designation. Aside from this one, I have confirmed that Lake Erie Beach, NY had a P-75 pumper and the US Navy had an A-75 75' quint. The one on the brochure isn't any of the three. I spoke to Rich Gergel about this series before he passed, but he had no recollection of it. The man who has all the records won't share. I guess we'll never find out. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/deadhorse.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Relics - Guest - 05-03-2009 Pictured at a storage yard in Japan, 2008. Rig is a ex-Army 530B, may be a 1963 American Motors-American Air Filter. Relics - ShoreFire - 05-03-2009 Would luv to find that sittin' in a scrap yard near me! Relics - bcfd424 - 05-13-2009 I found this old ladder truck sitting off Highway 18 South of Gaffney, SC. It was inside a fenced in lot so I was not able to any info on it. |
