For those not familiar, the Town of Port Royal (well, I'm not sure if it's an incorporated town or more of a village) is on Rt. 301 just across the Rappahannock River from King George County.

For anyone other than myself who may be interestd, the tractor drawn ladder from Alexandria (Seagrave) is ex-203. I'm guessing the second one is still in reserve. The Alexandria person who replied did not mention the second one.

It could be a typo I made when entering into my database. I'll check with firemag. Thanks for bringing that to my attention Dave

Dave, I checked with Jerry and he has the same job # that I do. Guess we'll have to try contacting someone with the department for verification.

I spent alot of time visiting Harrisonburg until I was in high school as my dad is from nearby McGaheysville. In the late 1980's, when I was probably 8-10 years old, we were at the Exxon station at the intersection of East Market Street and Cantrell Avenue when that ladder came screaming by on a call. Even at the time I remember thinking how old that rig looked. The one detail I'll never forget is how loud not only the siren was, but the motor as well. Man that thing screamed! It's weird how you remember certain events from your childhood and this one has always stuck out in my mind. Thanks for sharing the photo, John.

One 6 identical Seagrave pumpers ordered for Stations 2, 6, 7, 10, 11 & 12. Sorry Roto-Ray, in my haste I forgot to properly position your namesake.

Here is what the new Seagrave replaced. Unlike many newer rigs, this one SOUNDS like fire truck! I was told it will be moving to the Montpelier substation in the near future, probably running as Engine 8 Unit 2.

it is either GSO0562 or 0563. the KME plates for some of that era's rigs were low on the pump panel, which would place it behind the yellow hose that is on the step. the GSO # usually is at the top right corner of that plate

Paul;

When Jerry and I were there in 2007 we could not find the GSO on this rig either and you know how Jerry is about finding it. We looked for quite a few minutes.

Thanks Mike, I have to go back anyway to get the tanker (was in the shop for PM) and utility truck.

And John, I know not having that number is causing Jerry lost sleep!
