Next we will move on to the Company that I run with.

Fisherville Volunteer Fire Company. Company 216, Dauphin County.

On Labor Day of 1927, a massive fire destroyed half the town of Fisherville in Dauphin County. Shortly after the fire, the Fisherville Volunteer Fire Company was formed. Mr. Fred J. Bixler donated a 1923 Overland chassis and this became the first fire engine of the company.

This truck was sold in late 1997. It ran as a front line piece up till 1996 when we got our 1996 Freightliner/Swab Engine. Shortly after we placed the 96 engine in service, this unit was redesignated Attack 216.

X - Hopelawn, NJ

We sold it in 1996 after delivery of our 96 Engine. It was sold to Nescopeck Township, Luzerne County, Pa. where it became Engine 180-1.

They then sold it to a private collector in New Jersey. I saw it in Firehouse magazine about 5 or 6 years ago.

Frank- additional info:

U.S.Fire Apparatus built this 1942 Autocar 750/500 for the Wissahickon FC-Ambler (Montgomery Co.),PA. It was built in Wilmington,DE. Chief Jake Yost designed the manifold system seen on the officer's side of the photo. It was dubbed the "Yost Special". The manifold allowed up to 7 discharges at the same time. This would permit up to 15 to 20 separate hand lines to be utiilized. In 1962 it was traded in to Hahn Motors who re-sold it to Laury's Station (Lehigh Co.),PA.
