They served facilities in Riverdale, Cherokee County and Macon. All three were sold or donated. The Cherokee Facility's went to Cherokee County and the Macon Facility's went to Jones County. The one at Cherokee is a 4x4. Once is not enough..... - GA_Dave - 06-25-2013 This next rig has quite a history. It was the prototype 700 Series from American LaFrance, originally constructed in late 1942 and unveiled in 1945. For a few years, it toured the Country as a show and demo unit, then returned to Elmira and served as a test vehicle for aerial ladder developement until 1952. During that time, at least three aerials were broken off of it, there was no such thing as "non-destructive testing" back then! It was then picked up in 1956 by Jamestown, NY and refurbished. It ran there until the late 1970's. During that time, a small pump was added. In 1979, it was sold to Falconer, NY. It was again refurbed, with a new ladder, diesel engine, power steering, fiberglass top and updated lightling in 1981.
