Last one for today:  When this rig was purchased, Durham was still a PSO Department.  It was built with a standard cab and no jumpseats.  When Durham did away with the PSO concept, this rig, and a few more like it, was sent to Slagles Fire Equipment where the frame was stretched and the canopy and jumpseats were added.

About 4 or 5 years ago while visiting family in Montrose, Suquehanna County, PA, I found this truck or one exactly identical parked behind the firehouse of United Fire Company.   I later learned it was privately owned.  Yes, it was still lettered that way.   Yes, I did snap a few pics but unfortunately lost them when my previous PC crashed.

American Fire Apparatus used that Eagle logo for many years.  The factory location was shown at the bottom.  Most were marked Battle Creek, MI or Marshallton, IA until the company was purchased by Collins Industries and it was changed to Hutchinson, KS.  In 1986, they were purchased by Harold Lockabee and it was changed to Ball Ground, GA.  I have only ever seen one rig marked Beaver Falls, PA and I regret that I did not photograph the logo.  When Rich Gergel was compiling the info for the Iconografix book on AFA, I told him about American rigs being built in Beaver Falls, but had no evidence.  He researched but could not find any connection between AFA and Beaver Falls.  I thank you for posting this photo as it now proves that I was correct.  I don't know the year of the rig I photograped, but if this Cashtown rig is a 1985, then the relationship was between Beaver Falls and Collins Industries, not Battle Creek as I originally assumed.  The rig I shot was in Plumville, PA.

That rig is owned by the Assistant Fire Chief from Cashtown, he also has thier 1960's Ford front pumper as well.  I am good friends with him if you ever come back up here, I know he would be happy to move it around and show it off for pictures or what not.

When I saw this at Pump Primers last year I thought right away it looked like the old East Berlin engine, but I couldn't find anything to indicate as much.
