No.11 is two story with fire poles and No.12 was the first bungalow single floor fire house in the Kansas City Metro. No.12 was built to fit in the neighborhood of homes. NOTE: Interesting, both were built as two bay fire houses and later had the center pillar removed and the door widened for the new larger rigs. notice the brick color change in the door header. Kansas and Missouri - MFD76 - 01-26-2010 KCK No. 11 The two brass fire poles sit in the white nook sticking out from the fire house. Kansas and Missouri - MFD76 - 02-22-2010 Liberty, Missouri Fire Department Fire House 1 Rescue 1 (Ambulance) Rescue 3 (Ambulance) Battional 1 Quint 1 (Not Staffed) This fire house was built in 1971 for the new Snorkel. The old Two Story with Fire Pole Fire House just off the downtown square could not accommodate the Snorkel's height. So sadly they traded the Fire Pole for this one story fire house. The glass bay addition on the front is for the retired 1935 ALF 300 series pump called "Huck". The bay was added in the early 2000's. Liberty has since taking over the Ambulance service in the 1970's has been under staffed. They currently staff two ALS ambulances Rescue One, Rescue Three, and Battalion One at this fire house. Rescue Three provides cross-staffing for Quint One a 1993 75ft Pierce Lance. If a Commercial Fire Alarm or Fire occurs Rescue Three will float to the Quint. This is only if they are in Quarters. Here is the exception. Liberty just entered in to Automatic Aid with KCFD. KCFD requires four person staffing for Auto-Aid companies. KCFD DOES NOT recognize Quints in their system you are a Truck or an Engine period. The way it should be. So Liberty provides Quint 1 as a Truck to KCFD on the North East side. Rescue 1 and Rescue 3 will go out of service to staff Quint 1 for an Auto-Aid response. If Liberty is over staffed a driver is placed on Quint 1 and Rescue 3 will float over for an Auto-Aid call and the Battalion Chief will respond as the fourth person. Wow that was a mouthful. Kansas and Missouri - MFD76 - 02-22-2010 Liberty, Missouri Fire Deprtment "Huck" the 1935 ALF 300 series pump Kansas and Missouri - MFD76 - 02-22-2010 Liberty, Missouri Fire Department (Kent Street) Fire House 2 relocated early 2000's Pumper 2 Rescue 2 (Ambulance) Reserve Rescue 4 (Ambulance) The first Fire House Two was located at the busy intersection of MO Hwy 152 and MO Hwy 291. Wallgreen's offered the city alot of money for the late 1950's-1960's two bay fire house. Fire House Two moved two miles east of the old location. Fire House Two makes about 4000 runs a year. The Pumper is staffed with three and the Ambulance is staffed with two. |
