Tour of New Jersey - njjimmy - 09-03-2006 Interesting story, Rich! I guess you would have heard of them because both agencies share the word "Butler" in their name. Here's Paramus Engine 4, a late-model Hahn. Tour of New Jersey - njjimmy - 09-03-2006 Paramus Truck 4 runs this Hahn/LTi 100ft Tower. This is the only picture I have available right now. Photo credit on this one goes to Gary Hetzel.
Here's an other picture of this nice Bogota NJ American La France. I took it in 1993 at the wetdown of the new Bogota ladder truck. I posted it before (several times <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> ) at the old board. René de Caluwé The Netherlands Tour of New Jersey - njjimmy - 09-03-2006 Also out of company 4 is this Chevy/Saulsbury mini-pumper marked as Engine 44. Tour of New Jersey - njjimmy - 09-03-2006 Rene, thanks for that! It's a beautiful shot of that rig, probably the best I've seen! Here is Moonachie's Oshkosh/Sanford engine. Tour of New Jersey - njjimmy - 09-03-2006 Look at the shine on this one! Moonachie keeps this beautiful Ahrens Fox rig in reserve, but uses it mostly on parade detail. Tour of New Jersey - njjimmy - 09-03-2006 Another shot, from the rear. Photo credit to Gary Hetzel on this one. Tour of New Jersey - njjimmy - 09-03-2006 Edgewater, NJ runs this KME Excel pumper as Engine 1. Tour of New Jersey - njjimmy - 09-03-2006 Let's swtich gears and head back out west... Budd Lake Fire Dept. of Mount Olive Twsp. (Morris Co.) runs this Seagrave Marauder Squad. Tour of New Jersey - Rheems1 - 09-03-2006
I've heard of them and being from Butler in Morris County, about 40 miles northeast, I can say that over the years I've personally sent them invitations to various events that we've hosted such as anniversasry parades and wetdowns but never have heard anything. Several times I mailed them our annual calendar simply asking to let me know if they got it and no reply came back. Back in the days befoer 9-1-1, when many emergency phone calls were made by people simply dialing Operator, our dispatchers including myself erroneously received a few for Butler Park, which is actually a section of Warren County's Washington Township according to the area postmaster and guys in the Washington Borough Fire Department which is close to Butler Park. One memborable call to our PD was received by one of the older dispatchers who is now deceased. The report was of a building on fire in Butler Park, then the caller said that the fire truck had arrived. Since we have 2 acre park in the center of town called Butler Park and our public works crews were then decorating it for Christmas that included a temporary Santa Claus house, and most of those workers were also firemen, the dispatcher simply radioed on the dpw radio to ask if they were putting out a fire in the park but they were not. BTW, in those days the phone operators didn't even caller id yet. Rich Dean Butler NJ
I am so sorry to have to do this... but I had called Mr. Dean here about a tour I had planned with him upcoming... I wanted to know where we were going. He said to me... "Well I'll tell you what, not only are we going to Butler.. Mr. Fritz... we are going to Bloomingdale, and Pompton Lakes, and Riverdale, and Pompton Plains, and Pequannock, and Lincoln Park.... we are going to Totawa, Wayne and than we are going to PATTERSON to finish up our trip.....YYYYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY" Than it made me realize... I hadn't called Richard Dean... I had called his Brother: Howard Dean God I hope you aren't offended... but for some reason.. this little pointless post made me laugh very much. Dave Fritz Tour of New Jersey - Richard_L_Dean_07405 - 09-07-2006
Interesting story, Rich! I guess you would have heard of them because both agencies share the word "Butler" in their name. Often in our area when fire company, fire department, first aid or rescue squad hosts a celebration similarly named units from outside of that area will recieve special invitations. For example, in Butler NJ we've had a delegation from Butler, Indiana, travel 600 miles for two wetdowns and a parade and was the only other Butler out of 22 invited to respond. Bloomingdale, Illinois, participated in Bloomingdale NJ's parade in 1985. Dave Fritz
That is very good considering that in 2004 I was the Butler coordinator of "Dean's for Bush" and now am chairperson of "Dean's for anyone but Howard Dean." I don't want to make this a political thread by my above comments. The countries that the vast majority our members come from are those where democracy is cherished with everyone able to participate and still be friends with those opposing their viewpoints.
