Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - Guest - 09-18-2009
Goldvein, VA 1991 Grumman Panther #18507 1250/750 Diesel/automatic Engine 8 (SL photo)
Hey Steve; When did you shoot these ? Go back and look at posts 1246 & 1247 in this thread. We both shot these in front of the same tree !!! Mine are from May 2008. Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - VFN102 - 09-19-2009 In response to jshippey's request, here are the other Manakin rigs. Goochland Co, VA Manakin Engine 11 2007 Pierce Dash 1500/750/30A CAFS Job #17928 Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - VFN102 - 09-19-2009 Goochland Co, VA Manakin Tanker 16 2001 International 4900/S&S 1000/2100 Job #3653-05 Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - VFN102 - 09-19-2009 Last one is the brush truck. Manakin also runs two ambulances, but I did not photograph either. A lowboy had backed in behind me to load a bobcat, and I didn't realize I had chopped off the front bumper. Goochland Co, VA Manakin Brush 19 1989 Chevrolet 3500/STP (Specialized Transportation Products)/CET skid unit 200/300/5 Job #1156 Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - jshippey - 09-20-2009 Thanks for posting the Manakin rigs! Great pics Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-20-2009 Augusta County FS 10 has a new Squad 10 in service. It is a 2008 ALF Eagle that provides HAZMAT, technical rescue, vehicle rescue, and other squad duties. It replaces both a HAZMAT truck (1980 Ford/Hackney) and medium size squad (1987 International/Swab). Mike Sanders Winchester, VA Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-24-2009 I was able to get a few photos of apparatus at the Old Dominion Historical Fire Society meeting in Waynesboro, Virginia this past Saturday. Wilson, VA in Augusta County - Brush 193 1967 Kaiser Jeep 150/200 ex- Dooms, VA and ex- Forestry Still in service Mike Sanders Winchester, VA Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-24-2009 Not Virginia, but will add anyway since it was at the Waynesboro meeting. Greenbrier Hotel in White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia 1958 Chevrolet 100 Spartan/Oren 500/500 s/n 500 A 1604 privately owned Originally ordered by Greenbrier and then sold to Sweet Springs, WV. Mike Sanders Winchester, VA Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-24-2009 Last one from the meeting.... Grottoes, Virginia in Rockingham County 1948 Hahn 500/200 American Marsh Pump s/n 6516-R Thanks to Tom Shand for the info. I know the FD purchased this back (not sure if they purchased it from a collector or another FD). Any additional info is appreciated. FD will restore as they get funds. Mike Sanders Winchester, VA Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-24-2009 Here is a FD I have wanted to get to for a long time. Orkney Springs is located in Shenandoah County not to far from the West Virginia state line. Several years ago, the FD and rescue squad were seperate organizations. They have since joined together and the department is buidling a brand new station next to the old rescue squad buidling. In the meantime, the old rescue squad trucks are housed at the old rescue squad building and the fire trucks are at the current fire station down the road. Wagon 18-1 1993 Ford L900/Luverne 1250/1000 s/n 64034 This was photographed on Mount Jackson VFD just off of I81 in Shenandoah County. Wagon 18-1 is on loan to Mount Jackson. Mike Sanders Winchester, VA Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-24-2009 My favorite at Orkney Springs is this unusual truck.... Wagon 18-3 2003 Spartan Gladiator/S&S 1250/1900/50 s/n 4735 A 2009 Spartan Gladiator/Smeal 1500/750 is on order and should be in towards the end of the year. Mike Sanders Winchester, VA
Good photos Mike. We must have missed each other at Waynesboro this year. Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-24-2009 Don't see to many trucks around with the 50' ladder. Orkney Springs hopes to purchase a used quint in the near future. Tanker 18-1 1997 International 4900/1998 LSI/1976 John Bean 500/1250 This was previously a lime 1976 Chevrolet C. Mike Sanders Winchester, VA Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-24-2009 Brush 18 is a 1953 Dodge 250/250. The FD hopes to update the lighting package on this in the near future. Mike Sanders Winchester, VA Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-24-2009 A couple of the old rescue squad vehicles... Squad 18 2003 Ford F450/Knapheide/Shade note how the mural goes from the Ford cab to the utility body - a bit unusual. Mike Sanders Winchester, VA Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-24-2009 The department runs two similiar ambulances. 18-2 (posted here) is a 2000 Ford E350/Horton. They also have a 1995 Ford E350/Excellance as 18-1. In addition, the department owns a 1972 Ford C/ALF 750/500 red in color that was OOS and would not start. The plans are to keep it as a parade piece. Mike Sanders Winchester, VA Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - mnsand - 09-24-2009 Last for this segment, and this might surprise those who know the apparatus at Mount Jackson. This is their brand new 21-2, a 2009 Internationl 4300/Horton. Interesting colors, considering the department (fire and EMS are now combined) now runs a variety of apparatus with red, yellow/white, and green/white. Not long ago, the department purchased a 1989 Pierce engine from Prince Frederick, Maryland painted red and white. It is now at the Singer shop in Roanoke getting some body work done and rehabed. And yes, it is suppose to return in the new department colors of green and black. That should be interesting. Mike Sanders Winchester, VA Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - firemag - 09-24-2009 Mike, I don't know for sure, but the Grottoes antique may have been owned by Rusty Davis, a past Grottoes member, collector, and member of the ODHFS. Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - Guest - 09-24-2009 The green and black looks sweet. I can't wait to see the Pierce they bought from Prince Frederick in these colors! Virginia apparatus - miscellaneous - Guest - 09-24-2009 Mike, Nice Dodge M37, I was out driving mine today. Sorry I didn't get to meet you in Waynesboro. Nollie
Brush 18 is a 1953 Dodge 250/250. The FD hopes to update the lighting package on this in the near future. Mike Sanders Winchester, VA
|
