Relics - Guest - 08-10-2009 1959 American Lafrance 900 series N-658 750-500 X-Lagrange Park IL (?) This old girl is now sitting outside, and the department did not want to part with it, but no longer has room in the firehouse. It is for sale, was running fine and had been in front line service when parked. Contact the FD at Oldtown Fire Department Greenup, KY 41144 (606) 473-7811 This is a very rural small VFD so if your interested in saving this classic be determined to find someone to talk to. Relics - Guest - 08-10-2009
I found this one just across town today. Former Limington, ME Mobile Command-post and Rescue Unit. Could make out who built it, but it's on a 1972 International chassis. Knowing that Limington is a small town, so I'm guessing this served somewhere else first but where I don't know. pic by me
Just a wild guess, but could this be formerly from Norwalk (CT)? Relics - Guest - 08-10-2009
I believe he said he would like to get rid of these next two so if anyone is interested, let me know and I will put you in contact with him. Ex-New Orleans,LA 1984 Seagrave HB41-DB 1500/450/65' Redi-tower #R-79409
I hope this is not one of the rigs that was submerged when Katrina hit and the subsequent flooding occured. The owner told me all of his trucks ran though and this one would crank so probably not. Relics - Guest - 08-10-2009 I got this scanned right after you posted, but ended up a fire call. Vernon Twp. Fire Co. - Crawford County, PA. 1973 ALF 1250/750 Tom Bair Photo I looked at my Meadville slides, and they never owned a Pioneer. Vernon Twp. is right outside of Meadville, so I would imagine they have a Meadville address. This was also the only engine that matched the one you posted. I don't know anyone up in Limington, ME either to call and get any info. But It's a small rural dept and I seriously doubt they bought this brand new so thats why i'm curious as to where it was in service before. Relics - BFD1151 - 08-11-2009 Here is a rare find for NC. I found this truck near Southport VFD's station in Brunswick County,NC. It looked like it was used as a parade truck now by whoever owned it because there was no longer a water tank and bench seats were installed in the hosebed. The truck was lettered as St. George Society Fire Association, Southport,NC. 1960s? Ford C/Central-St. Louis 750/0 Relics - BFD1151 - 08-11-2009 The next 3 trucks I found in Blenheim,SC (aka the middle of nowhere) sitting outside of Blenheim VFD. This first truck looked well worn and said something about being sold to surplus. I'm not sure if Blenheim is placing this truck into service or getting rid of it, no one was around to ask. Blenheim VFD 1990 Spartan/E-One 1500/1000 #7861 Ex-Columbia,SC E2 Relics - BFD1151 - 08-11-2009 Once again, not sure if they are getting rid of it or placing the truck into service. I left nose prints on the glass and the trucks they had inside didn't look to be in much better shape than these outside. Blenheim VFD,SC 1986 GMC/E-One 1000/1250 #4861 Ex-Horry County,SC Relics - BFD1151 - 08-11-2009 Here is the final one from Blenheim,SC. Blenheim VFD 1982 Chevy C70/FMC 750/1000? #8733 Ex-? Blenheim VFD 1990 Spartan/E-One 1500/1000 #7861 Ex-Columbia,SC E2
Micah, They must be going to put them in service. The Columbia and Horry Co. trucks were recently sold on GovDeals. I am not sure about the tanker. The Columbia truck was orginally E2 but spent a good bit of its life at E8. It was originally all red and was Columbia's only E1. A sister followed a year or so later but was rejected by the city and I think it went to Texas somewhere. Like I said, the Spartan/E-One was ragged out and was in really rough shape so I wasn't sure if they were getting rid of it or placing it into service. Relics - paganores10cue - 08-11-2009 Found this one on Wellington Rd. in a parking lot of a lagre nursery in Prince William VA, appears to be an ex Baltimore County rig to me...what are your thoughts? I was in a hurry so no info. Relics - paganores10cue - 08-11-2009 More Relics - SrFireOfficial - 08-11-2009 Definitely looks old BCoFD to me, maybe old Engine 10 from Parkville circa 1976 Relics - Guest - 08-11-2009
More
Its funny they take the Rotating lights and Q2B, but leave the Mars Lights. Relics - SrFireOfficial - 08-11-2009 If my memory is lucid after 33 years and miles of mojitos and martinis, the Federal Q was located between the 888's on those 76 Mack CF's BCoFD had back then. They were delivered in white over yellow, one to Towson (Engine 1) and one to Parkville (Engine 10); in addition to what's left of the lettering and the rest of the warning light package, BCoFD was big on a single airhorn on the driver's side. Relics - Guest - 08-11-2009 I have the following from when I shot it running as E-1 back in 1996: 1977 Mack CF 1250/500 rehabed by FD shops in 1990, orig. E-10. |
