1939 Gramm/Howe Defender 500/250 which was in service at Midway VFC-Lahaska (Bucks Co.),PA. It 1960 it was replaced.

This was NOT from Langhorne,PA. It was from South Langhorne (Bucks Co.,PA. The name of this town was later changed to Penndel (Bucks Co.),PA. It is a 1927 Brockway/Amer LaFr Cosmopolitan 500/230. In 1954 it was traded-in to Ward LaFr.

Frank - do you still have the factory photo scan of a 1950's Maxim from Haverford Township, PA (Brookline?)



Someone sent me a more recent photo of the pumper and we think the body (with high side compartments) was original, but I don't have a factory photo of it. I've fiddled with the search feature here because I think you posted this once before, but I can't find it. Short of checking 231 pages one at a time, I am crying uncle!

First up is the Powell's Valley Volunteer Fire Company. This company is no longer in service, having merged with the Halifax and Community Fire Company in August of 1994 to form the present day Halifax Fire Department.

Halifax Fire Department ran this rig for a few years before it was destroyed in the garage. The tanker had gone into the garage to have it's brakes checked. While the unit was up on the lift, the water in the tank shifted, causing the tank to twist the frame and shear off the bolts holding the drivers side of the tank down, resulting in the following:
