The photographs of members of the FDNY in this series were taken at fires in the Bronx or Manhattan

circa 1980s and many were published in the book New York's Bravest - Their Lives on the Line

GREAT book if I may add !

Is there ANYWHERE at all to find this book? I've searched high and low. The pictures on that page are the most dramatic and moving photos I've ever seen

When I was a cop in the 48 Pct, and when I first transferred up to 46 Engine, the location of this building was a parking lot that 45/58 were using. It is now the site of a Popeye's Chicken restaurant. Look's like 45's quarters was Exposure 4 of that job. Nice use of the bottle stretch! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

I was lucky enough to buy this book 22 years ago (1987) Not only are Mike Dick's photos tops, but Lt. Tom Barry's war stories in between are great ! I see the "Famous" Tom Neary in a few photos.

Yes

F.D.N.Y. - R1SmokeEater - 08-03-2009

For anyone who hasn't seen, FDNY has put out a DVD on latest findings/live studies of Hi-Rise wind driven fires, Hi-Rise nozzle ops, Fire blankets, PPV etc. The studies involved the Chigago FD, and other institutes, including LIVE Hi-Rise burns on Roosevelt Island, and in Chicago- I believe it's being distributed officially. WELL worth the watch !!
