Here's one of those funky looking new Spartan Furion/Braun rescues. This one is to be put in service at Rescue 2. The department currently has two of them, this green one and a red one at Rescue 3.

Here's Rescue 3's rig, the other 2008 Spartan Furion/Braun.

Ocean Rescue is part of Fire-Rescue. Here's one of their Polaris rigs.

And last, and probably least to most of you, is this Polaris medical transport rig. I was told that Dolphin Stadium bought several of these for the department at a cost of $65K each.

Hope you enjoyed a little view of Miami-Dade.

Mark,

Looks like you made out well for the weather. I see that Engine 14 was switching out of their Arrow XT Puc. Are the other ones in service? Any idea whether Engine 15 got the hand me down Velocity PUC? And last question, Do you have any idea what stations the following rigs are at Scene Support, Air Unit, Command Unit? Thanks in advance for any help.

Patrick, It was Engine 40 switching out of their PUC. Apparently it sprung an oil leak. It's one of the second generation PUCs for MDFR. I was told that the company in the first one had to switch out of theirs and send it back to Pierce due to oil shooting out into the cab. I don't have any idea about the other PUCs. As far as I know, Scene Support and the Command Unit are currently kept at Station 13/Shop on Galloway south of Bird Rd. They have some others on order and when they come in, they plan on spreading them out but keeping a larger one behind 13. I'm not sure where the Air Unit is housed. Sorry I can't be much help.

Really Mark, how many Blizzards could south Florida actually have? <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Tongue' />

We've got a Dairy Queen right down the street! You can tell just by looking at me that we have blizzards all the time.

It's kinda funny though, one of the Yamaha dealers in town has a snow mobile sitting out in front of their store with the jet skis and motorcycles.

Quote:Aerial 46 is this 2006 Spartan-Rosenbauer/General Safety 1500/500/30F/60'. This is the one I had the priviledge of delivering and driving from the plant to Miami.

It's about time you got me the specs on this one! Those guys I work with STILL can't believe you brought that to our station just so I could shoot it.

Mark Carr Photos - BFD1151 - 02-09-2009

Cool stuff Mark, looks like you had a good afternoon of shooting!

Mark

It was a pleasure meeting you this past weekend, your pictures came out great!!

Mark Carr Photos - Mark V. Carr - 03-08-2009

Although not the perfect angle for photographing, yesterday I was able to shoot this rig at E\-One. It's a 2009 E\-One Typhoon 1500 GPM pumper for Engine 4 of Bentonville, Arkansas and bears SO#134894. Couldn't get the tank size.

Also at E\-One but behind a fence that I wasn't permitted to pass (twas a weekend), was this Mobile Command Vehicle for Hillsborough County, FL. No numbers available from 300 feet away.

What does Caisson mean, and/or what is this rig used for?

I'm not exactly sure the correct definition of caisson but in this sense, it's the fire truck that's used to carry the casket of deceased firefighters.

Mark Carr Photos - Ladder 68 - 03-08-2009

That is the correct definition of the term as well as its purpose.
