According to Harvey Eckart's Mack Fire Trucks 1911-2005 book, it took in 2200 alarms before being removed from service in 1982. I'm sure some others might have more information, though....

The Utility Support Unit, a 1994 shops conversion of a 1983 Mack Satellite #MS-8302 and body off a 1980 GMC/ComCoach Salvage rig. I remember this rig being in the rap video for the song "Check the Rhime", by the group "A Tribe Called Quest". Found the video on Youtube and watched it. At 2:13 the rig drives by the video shoot. You can't really tell that it's 317 from the Youtube video, but I remember watching this video on MTV in the early '90's and it was definitely 317.
