What state is your friend in? Is it still lettered for Oaklyn or...?

[/quote]

When bought from a museum in NJ last year it was and still is lettered for Oaklyn. The plan is bring it back to its original state as a Philly ladder, I think 10 but not sure. It is in my friends shop in Conn right now but he lives on Grand Island at the border of New York and Ontario. PS money is no object!

Did you purchase these two rigs?

Madison was the next town over from me when I was a kid. I have a bunch of photos of both these rigs from when I was younger. Classics.

Looks like he can start his own Madison FD Western station. Just needs a rescue and a chief's car!

Did you ever have a chance to visit the old Madison FD firehouse that was in Hartley Dodge Memorial municipal buildilng? I did once, back in 1974 for the refreshments following oil pit fire training when the old Morris County Fire School travelled around prior to the academy being built. It had to be one of the most exquisite firehouses I was ever in, housing the combination career/volunteer department. The building was given to the borough by Geraldine Rockefeller Dodge in the early 1930's as a memorial to her son who was killed in an auto accident. In November 1992, President George H.W. Bush kicked off the final day of his failed re-election campaign from that site.

Quote:Jersey City, NJ - 1950's ALF.

Assigned to Truck 9, it's a 1964 ALF 900 Series 100' TDA. Wrecked in 1973, the cab was replaced with a 1961 cab from a pumper, x-E-6. In 1978, the ladder was struck by a train while operating at a small fire on an elevated section of a railroad bridge. One FF was thrown from the aerial and killed. The rig received a new stick and served T-9 until replaced by a 1983 Seagrave 100' rearmount.

1967 ALF 900 Series Aero Chief 90. Assigned to Truck 6 from 1967 to 1984. Known as the "The E.P." (Elevating Platform) to Jersey City Firefighters, it was damaged in 1970 when it tipped over while operating at a fire. The metal cab roof was added in 1974. It tipped over again in 1977. It was frequently out of service after that, once for over a year, and was replaced by a Mack Aerialscope in 1984.

Here's a photo I took of Truck 6's 1967 ALF 90' Aero Chief, ALF #8-1-535, just before it was replaced in 1974. She looked a little rough at the time.

And here's a photo of her next to her replacement, a 1984 Mack CF/Baker 75' Aerialscope, Mack #CF686FAP-1587. Truck 6 crews were training on the newly arrived Aerialscope prior to its going into regular service.
