Massachusetts Fire Apparatus - Irons51 - 07-08-2008
Last one for now... Amherst, MA 19xx Oren Joe Klein photo, H Smith collection
The Oren was a 1950. 1000gpm and a 500 gallon tank. One of our captains told me that it was the first truck he ever drove and he loved it. Aparantly it was sold to the town of Pelham Ma. in the late 70s. At some point Pelham sold it to a private party and it sat in a local field for a "very long time" and then dissapeared. Massachusetts Fire Apparatus - Guest - 07-17-2008 F.Y.I I was talking to a Revere FF the other day and he said the 2 new Engines (3 & 5) will be in Late Sept early Oct. They will be Pierce Arrow XT looking identical to the Current Engine 1 and 4 from the Pump panel back (1 & 4 haveEnforcer cabs not Arrow XT). The New Ladder 1 also a Pierce and will be an Arrow XT tiller. It is set to be in in Late December early January. This will be identical to Ladder 2 again expect for an Arrow XT Cab and not Dash cab L2 has. Just a "poke" at my Danvers friends here on the board. I hated calling it an engine when I was there in Danvers. Massachusetts Fire Apparatus - Guest - 07-22-2008 Here is a pic of Salem Ladder 2 a 1982 Maxim Tiller that has been rebulit twice. The Final time the cab was replaced with a Pierce cab. Soory for quality but I was passing by and took it with my cell phone. This is a reserve and has been running a LADDER 1 for a while anyone know what up with Ladder 1? Massachusetts Fire Apparatus - Guest - 07-22-2008 I think that Salem, Newton and another community (possibly Waltham?) all received these Maxim aerials after Boston ordered three and canceled the order. Can anyone confirm this ?
