I'd guess it's probably going to be another mid-engine Hush like their other frontline rigs (Engine 159 shown below).  The Quest HP100 towers seemed to be a bit of an anomaly (hopefully not to be repeated Smash ).  All the rear engine Hush's are now in reserve, as far as I know.  They haven't bought any new rigs since 2009, so I'm guessing they're sorely needed.

Most of it is being paid for buy a grant they got from a indian tribe, also to lower the bid,

they got some kind of government discount using  the Galeveston TX bid (The same bid Phoenix used on ordering 2014 Pierce Quantum engines)  Also Glendale had to trade in 2 older engines & a LT to make up the difference

Unfortunately not.  I went by their shops about a month ago but all they had there were a couple of the 2002-era Pierce Dash's that were replaced by the new rigs.  I'll have to get down there someday soon and see if I can shoot the KME's.

Just north of Station 181 on Camino Oro, off Yuma Road west of Litchfield. The Goodyear FD doesn't have its own shop, it's the City shop.

Did you mean Avondale? I haven't seen it yet. I checked SVI's new deliveries but nothing is mentioned.

Phoenix Metropolitan Area Fire Apparatus - Guest - 02-23-2014

I believe Avondale is selling or leasing the SVI to Surprise and Avondale is a new KME utility

Interesting, I hadn't heard that.

BTW, Peoria's new FD shop is closer to being done. I'll get over and take some photos when they move in. It's the old Frontier Emergency Products facility in far Southeast Peoria, near 75th and Olive (Dunlap).

Here is Avondale's new utility, from KME's website. Probably be the last time that rig sees any snow!

Utility units in Arizona are basically Air/Light rigs, with some light rehab supplies. However, for major incidents in hotter weather there are dedicated rehab rigs...

Phoenix Metropolitan Area Fire Apparatus - SrFireOfficial - 03-01-2014

In Metro Phoenix, a Utility is a light and air unit, some also have some site rehab resources built in also if the department doesn't have a dedicated and/or staffed rehab unit. In a nutshell, the majority of the fire departments, large and small in Maricopa County participate in an automatic mutual aid consortium. Essentially, the City of Phoenix provides regional 9-1-1 services for 20+ FD's in the valley and units respond and work together regardless of the lines on the map or the color of the fire trucks. Where I live, it would very likely to have units from Chandler, Mesa and Gilbert among others responding for a structure fire. As part of the consortium, all of the signatory fire departments operate under the same tactical procedures.
