On Saturday, April 28, The Special Operations Unit of the NYPD held a memorial service for their members. A nicely attended event it is organized by several retired members of ESU, aviation, and Harbor. My grandfather was a member of ESU so it was even more special to be there. Several vehicles were on display.

First up is ESU Truck 12. I never thought to ask but I believe 12 is kept at Floyd Bennet Field, home of SOD, as a full equipped spare.
12 was at one time a "HAZ-MAT" ESU... 11 was kept for "TRAINING" Both when I saw them were fully equipt and could be a spare or staffed by ESU SCHOOL STAFF.

Great shots, thanks for posting. Anybody know why 12 Truck was changed from a haz-mat to a fully equipped spare? Second question....when did they do that?

Regards

Heard the same thing, except that the contract with Ferrara was just for a rescue truck. Maybe it will be the HAZ MAT.

APC, stored at FBF. I don't know what year it is but I've seen this unit around the NYPD for the last 20 years.

I believe the first armored vehicle in post 272 is a Bear Cat made by a company called Lenco.
