I noticed a PIC somewhere earlier in this thread of Mocanaqua, PA's 1956 International Howe. I was wondering if anyone had more PCIS from Mocanaqua or Shickshinny which is across the river.

My grandparents were both from these two towns.

Plus I own the 1956 Howe with my brother and father. She still sits in PA and will be heading to MI where I reside for a complete frame off back to original restoration this fall.

Frank B, the Harrisburg L-Model Mack went to the Pleasant View Fire Company No. 16 of the Harrisburg Fire Department. Interesting to see a factory photo of the rig, I myself have never seen a factory photo of the rig.

Is that the rig that is still in Harrisburg? I think this is the one we photographed at the station on North 6th when the CPFBA had there meeting there a number of years ago.

I just took a look and it is the engine that was at station 1. The only differences I see, they added Engine above the 16, and it didn't have the HFD on it, plus there where a couple little things added to it since, a small mirror on the driver side about the fender right at the drivers doorway, and posts and rollers for the booster real.

I think it is interesting, that Harrisburg Purchased a lot of Mack rigs, but not one Hahn.

I think these Mack L rigs are nice. I still can't belive Mack decided to close the fire apparatus devision.

I understand that Philly was not a Mack city. What was the reasoning behind this?

Mack didn't make that decision, Renault did! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/banghead.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Banghead' />

I was told it was a corporate decision to close. I guess thats what everybody means by that,

Philly had a few Macks, I posted Mack B's on the Philly thread?

Later on Philly had a few Mack CF towers. Any how Mack did sell one heck of a lot of Fire Trucks.

A quick flip thru my Philly books and a couple of other "bibles" of the hobby revealed:

Several 1920's MACK AC Bulldogs as pipeline, wrecker, and fuel wagon.

6 1955 Mack B 750 GPM

2 1962 Mack B aerial ladder tractors

Many Mack CF 1000 GPM engines bought in 1975-76.

1 1977 Mack CF 1000 GPM with 54' squrt

3 Mack CF 75' aerialscopes: 1978,82, and an 86.

So,Philly's had a few, I was privileged to photo the CF squrt engine and a couple of the scopes while they were in service, and these units were run pretty hard.

Dr. Stinebaugh & Frank B:

Thanks for the info on the Philly Macks.

The books I have on Macks show very few were used by Philly even though they were just a stone's throw from Allentown.
