this isn't the rig that was for sale outside the farm hall. the rig that is for sale is their 1986 CF/Ward 79. the pic above is of their 1976 CF that was refurbed in 1986 by Ward 79. the rig pictured was sold several years ago to a private owner when they got their American La France Eagle pumper.

I'm just guessing here, but I think Jeffersonville is in PA. Here's a 1959 or a 1960 Ford F. Could this be a Harwick? Mattson Collection

Scott,

The information on the above - from Al Powell's files:

Correct on Jeffersonville (Montgomery County, PA)

1959 Ford F-600/Trenton National Trailer, std.conv.cab, full-width, compartmented open body, service/personnel carrier, used as field piece, pump and roll capability, 2 KW generator-later upgraded with 5 KW unit, in March,1979 sold to Red Hill (Montgomery Co.),PA, in 1989 sold to Cal Little-Hummelstown,PA, in 7-94 seen in Wellsboro,PA.

I'm not at all sure what to make of this pic. The slide has Downington written on it, but the rig is lettered for Hershey. Any ideas on this one? Mattson Collection

Scott,

I had to do some digging on this to prove what I thought when I first saw your post.

Originally purchased new by the Radnor Fire Comapny of Wayne (Delaware County, PA)

1940 Chevrolet field piece, full cab, 200/150, Hale HHB rotary pump, possible Hale body, it was sold to the Alert Fire Company (Chester County, PA) on 3/29/55 for $1,000. It was sold by Alert in 1970 to Bill Harrison of East Brandywine Township who was a used car dealer. Mr. Harrison took the truck to the Manhiem Auto Auction to be resold. It went through at least four private collectors after it left Alert. One of the last of which was Hope Emerich of Hershey, PA. She bought it out of a junk yard and painted it with Hershey on the door. It was never in the Hershey FD. By 1994 it was owned by Bruce Stegner & Herb Barber of Franklin Square, NY. They repainted it. Still there today I believe.
