Bellmore Engine 601 - Young (I think this was a return to full custom apparatus after quite a few Ford C chassis rigs)

Empire State Oldies - b9208 - 08-04-2011

Bellmore Engine 602 (I think this rig was originally delivered as 603, and became 602 when the 1969 Maxim F pumper was sold and Engine Co. 2 went to one engine instead of two). My father was a member of Engine Co. 2 in the 70's, and I spent quite a bit of time at Engine 2 "The Big E" when both 602 and 603 were Maxims...

Bellmore Engine 603, as delivered. Ford chassis rigs became very popular replacing an almost all Maxim fleet...

Bellmore Engine 604 - Ford Young out of Headquarters

Bellmore Ladder 606 - Not sure who did the "refurb", but this rig started life as a red Maxim, and the body and aerial were moved to a new chassis and the first lime paint job for Advance Hook, Ladder and Engine Company 1.

Bellmore Rescue 607 - Ford Saulsbury, second piece for Advance Company out of HQ. If anybody has any shots of the old floodlight 607 that this rig replaced, please post! The old rig was an open crew back, conventional cab with a huge bumper and winch - never thought to get a picture of it when we lived there.

Anybody know the specs on this floodlight rig? Looks like a Maxim body, and Bellmore loved Maxims. Ford chassis? Year?

Thanks in advance.

And thanks again for posting.

Gary

I don't have the specifics, but it is a late 1950's/early 1960's International B Series chassis. Body could be a Maxim or possibly a Young. I see similarities to both.

Bellmore Engine Co.2 - Engine 602 1969 Maxim F - Engine 603 1980's Ford Pierce, replacing a 50's vintage Maxim S with convertible top that went to a department in Polk County, Florida where it continued to serve as a "first out" engine. The F Maxim was sold a short time later to Frankfort Center NY, then to a road department (as per somewhere else in this thread). Sad end to an awesome engine. The Pierce was renumbered as 602, and Engine 2 was then a single piece company, plus an ambulance. (When this pic was taken, ambo 6011 went out the back from a bay door centered between the two engines - tight quarters.)

Bellmore Engine 603, Maxim assigned to Engine Co. 2 - Storm duty during the first blizzard of 1978. Crew came by the house to pick up my dad. I remember guys saying that 603 could "go anywhere once you chained her up." A second blizzard hit about a week later. Sorry pic is so dark, I was about ten when I took it.
