New Fairfax Engine 411

Pierce Velocity (identical to the new Engine 430)

I wonder if the griping about the Velocity's will stop now that the mirors are back to traditional?

Thanks for posting Nate.

Shorter wheelbase also. I've only heard positive remarks from those I've spoken with. Time will tell!

Take care Dave!

Well being that the Dash CF is the new latest and greatest from Pierce, I am willing to bet that the next round of rigs will not be velocities so we will have something new to gripe about <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> Were firemen dude, come on.

Standby brother. I'll check with my connections at 14. She's still in sweet condition, though a bit small for a TROT Rescue Company.

My two cents: To the best of my knowledge, the Pierce CF can only accommodate a medium block engine in that configuration. That said, with the FRD's propensity for spec'ing big block Detroits, I don't see the "CF" coming to the County of anytime soon. Of course, I wouldn't mind being proven wrong on either of my theories.

Partially right. The big block CF is still under development. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/usa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Usa' />

The big block engine could possibly be ready sometime late summer or early fall. My Department is looking at a possible configuration using the CF cab and chasis on our new rescue.

The Dash CF will be available for big block engines they were working on the engineering. The initial launch was only medium block but big block will be close behind I am told.

Well, it's good news to hear the development of the introduction of the big-block Detroits and others into the CF configuration. Me thinks though they might be rushing and have to wait and see how the existing prototypes are working and weathering the "real" world work load and all the factors associated with its existence in a real fire department application versus what happens on the Pierce "test bed". Anyways, with my time line what it is, I doubt I will be riding one, at least with the seal of the County of on the door.

It's an impressive configuration the CF. I still like it with the grill eventhough the grill is just for show..... I miss the Dash that was retired.

Front line Engine and Truck 106 are owned by the City of Falls Church. A small percentage of funding for their purchase was provided by Arlington County and the rigs were built very close to the ACFD specs with some minor changes (pump panel on E106, no tank or pump on T106). It is my understanding that the City of Falls Church would like to have their apparatus incorporated into the ACFD apparatus replacement cycle which may result in some changes and modifications to what they operate now. Also, City of Falls Church owns all the equipment (hose tools etc) carried on that apparatus.

[/quote]The frontline Medic, Reserve Medic, Ambulance, Utility, Reserve Engine and (soon-to-be-delivered) Light & Air were all purchased by the Volunteers. The trick is to look at a Station 6 piece and see if it has the word Volunteer on it. If it does, the volunteers purchased it.
