This JOX 4-85 was a 1946. I just found the delivery photos of it being unloaded from a boxcar at the railyard in DC.

I was working at the Falls Church station the day the owner of this rig drove up on the front ramp with it. I was the first person he saw and he came over to me and asked if I wanted the fire truck. I thought he was joking so I told him no. He then walked inside and came back out 10 minutes and walked away. One of the Falls Church Volunteers came walking out with a big grin on his face. He told me the guy walked in and handed him the keys and asked for a "donation receipt" then left!!!! FCVFD spent a few dollars fixing the rig up and then turned around and sold it to a couple of Arlington Firefighters for $1,000.00. It is still in their hands and has been re-lettered as ACFD Engine 4.

Not directly related to apparatus but for those of you on Facebook the Manassas Volunteer Fire Company now has a page on there definitely worth following, or "liking". Good stuff.

While in Winchester for a training a few months ago a I had a chance to stop into the Millwood-Station Fire Company in Fredrick County. Great bunch of guys there, career and volunteer, who were all too willing to pull out the rigs for me. First up is Engine 21.

Heres a 1953 International R-182/Oren pumper that served the Strasburg, VA VFD until 1965, then served the South Warren VFD in Bentonville, VA until 1993. The info I have on it is it has a 200 gallon booster tank with a 600 GPM 3-stage high pressure pump and carries Oren serial number 600-AHP-1341. It currently resides in Rhode Island:
