Found this old beauty parked at Valley Hills, NC's old fire station, which is now a repair garage. From what I could see, this truck had an NC Inspection Sticker on the windshield with the year cut out on it. It's from a VFD in NC who's name starts with "N", maybe has a "D" in the name, and it's no more than about 6-8 letters long. The passenger side still had "V.F.D." visible on the doors. The name of the FD was painted on the compartment doors down the body. Does anyone have any idea?

Andrew, this piece looks like either a Corbitt or Duplex cab had been installed on it. Looking at the windshield and door gave that appearance!!

1912 Seagrave one of the first motorized apparatus used by the Monrovia Fire Dept. A local resident has donated this rig back to the Monrovia Fire Dept and the dept is working on restoring this rig back to its original state.

It sits in a small field behind The Sullivan County Roadhouse hotel on US 220 in Laporte. I think the guy has plans to turn it into either a dump truck, or something similar.

Really? The minutes say it was purchased directly from Rockledge, as the only thing changed was their name removed, and our added. We have an old fireman's advertising cabinet of some sort on the wall in our bays, which contains dozens of large old photographs and news articles. I'll have to see if we have any sale images. We do for the Engine that went to Arkansas.

I only rode in it once, to a fall victim at Ricketts Glen State Park. After that, I started taking the ambulance instead. Figured I'd need an ambulance, it was hot out, sun beating down making it a hotter ride, and the heat in the back never shut off. I was pretty sure I'd either need oxygen, or a puke bag by the time we got there. We switched from a truck to carry stuff and a lot of manpower; to an RTV and Ford Excursion to haul some people, and a lot of rope rescue gear.. The largest portion of our call volume consists of Search or Technical Rescue calls.

Couldn't get very close as they had the backyard roped off.

Back in 1938, American LaFrance delivered two tractor-drawn City Service Trucks and a tractor-drawn 65' water tower to Los Angeles. All three had four door cabs. The rig on the left is one of the CST's, Reg. #7818 or #7819. The one to the right of the CST appears to be the water tower, #7823.

Is the pic current or old? Are they really just sitting behind a fire station rotting?

Relics - photone - 05-24-2011

Looks like something even older sitting next to the water tower...
