F.D.N.Y. - MFD76 - 02-28-2010
I remember hearing (or reading) a while back that there was a time when the local population in inner city areas were unscrewing the speaker cones while the rigs were on scene - the metal screen was added to prevent that. I don't remember where this info came from, or if it's correct, but hey, it's what I got.
Sweet thanks, it does make sense. Gandy's will take anything if its not locked or bolted down. Gandy is our term in Kansas City for Skell. Stay Safe, Rick F.D.N.Y. - Guest - 02-28-2010 The Spencer Abbey rig is now used as a spare for the Spencer, MA fire department. The truck is in great shape, pumps great, and is used as a front line piece if one of their other three engines goes out of service. Great shot, too. F.D.N.Y. - Frank B - 03-07-2010 Mack CF factory photov delivered to FDNY the yellow color cracks me up! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/BananaMan.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> F.D.N.Y. - Frank B - 03-07-2010 LTI factory photos show the ALF LTI delivered to FDNY F.D.N.Y. - Frank B - 03-07-2010 LTI ALF F.D.N.Y. - Frank B - 03-07-2010 I cant figure out how to do the multible pics in the same post! Tower 14 drivers side How did the truck work out? F.D.N.Y. - Frank B - 03-07-2010 another drivers side shot of truck 14 F.D.N.Y. - Marc - 03-07-2010 Frank, The job only ordered two of these rigs. The other went to 163 Truck in Queens. This rig (14) eventually tipped over while operating at a job, pinning two firemen underneath. Firemen, cops, civilians, and even some skells ran over and literally lifted the rig off the two firemen. Don't know how extensive their injuries were, but i know they survived. I believe 163's ALF/LTI was eventually reassigned to 14 and soon after, that was disposed of too. I never heard about that. my favorite was the FDNY Sutphen aerial tower with the Lions on it. I forget what company it was from. The Sutphen's worked very well they are the first 100' (95') T/L's that FDNY had. I would think with the new bucket style you may see them around again in the FDNY. (no good for taxpayer fires) F.D.N.Y. - R1SmokeEater - 03-09-2010 Mike updated his site w/ page-8, Great pix !
