Illinois - A/TCEMSPM - 04-05-2011 Some clarification on the Tri-State Issue. Their Headquarters station where 484, 483 and 583 were photgraphed is in Darien. where 382 and 383 where photographed is in unincorporated Hinsdale. 384 and 482 appear to be photographed in front of Station three which is in unincorporated Burr Ridge. They also have a fourth station in Willowbrook as well which is the former Clarendon Heights Fire District which merged in 1995. The City of Darien itself does not have its own fire department. it is divided in half at Cass Avenue. One side is Tri-State, The other side is Darien-Woodridge. Which then splits Woodridge in half at I believe I-355 with Lisle Woodridge. Bill F. or FFPM571 Could confirm the District Boundary, It has been Five years since I left Tri-State.I might be a little rusty Illinois - Guest - 04-06-2011 those boundrys sound about right..the south end of the county is a mish mosh of fire districts Illinois - DGFD147 - 04-07-2011 The Tri State FPD was never part of the Hinsdale FD. They cover unicorporated areas of Hinsdale, Darien and Bur Ridge. They have a Darien mailing address for the headquarters station on Plainfield Rd. Illinois - DGFD147 - 04-07-2011
this ALF was originally Darien, IL. same question, did they merge?
The Darien part of this is the mailing address for headquarters. Illinois - DGFD147 - 04-07-2011
No Tri-State has been around since the early 50's at least. They are to the south of Hinsdale and cover all or part's of Darien, Willowbrook and Burr Ridge as well as unincorporated DuPage County. As far s the rig goes I'm not sure if that was originally a Hinsdale engine or not. The American LaFrance engine was sold and delivered directly to the Tri State FPD Illinois - DGFD147 - 04-07-2011
Are you showing this ALF as delievered to Darien, IL? That would be the delivery address of the District as their HQ's has a Darien mailing Address. As far as I know Darien never had their own fire dept. Maybe Bill F. can jump in here and clarify things. Happy to help out Dennis. Darien never had their own FD. Most likely prior to Tri State FPD getting started they could have been getting protection from the Downers Grove Estates FPD to the West, Pleasantview FPD to the East and Hinsdale FD to the North. Illinois - DGFD147 - 04-07-2011 Yorkfield FPD Engine 703 19?? GMC/Darley No other info. Engine 703 is a 1964 GMC-DARLEY 750-500 Illinois - DGFD147 - 04-07-2011 Another now defunct district was the Yorkfield FPD, which covered as area of unincorporated DuPage County to the south of Elmhurst as well as a very small chunk of unincorporated Cook County adjacent to Hillside. First up is their IH/Darley engine. No info. Illinois - DGFD147 - 04-07-2011 Bellwood Fire Dept. Engine 604 19?? IH/Pirsch 1000/??? This rig ran out of the south side station with a 2 man crew. Bellwood Eng.604 is a 1965 IHC-Pirsch 1000-500 Illinois - DGFD147 - 04-07-2011 Lisle-Woodridge Fire Prot. District. First up is this Snorkel from the Oak Brook Terrace FPD. The original name for the district was the Butterfield FPD and sometime in the early '80's I believe they changed it to Oak Brook Terrace to better reflect the town they protected. John has this down as a Pierce but a couple of books I have including Walt McCall's call this a Darley rig. John Tulipano photo. This is indeed a early Pierce body. This department had a few GMC-Darley engines. Illinois - DGFD147 - 04-07-2011 Lisle-Woodridge Fire Prot.
