chassis from local dealer, in 1965 custom body built on chassis, delvd Nov, 1965, equipped with 10 KW generator, air bank for refilling bottles, 5-ton winch, 10-ton hydraulic jack, 500 ft of rope, line throwing gun, 1000 ft of electrical cable and floodlights, in 1980 repowered with Caterpillar diesel motor and Allison auto trans, generator upgraded to 12 KW Kohler diesel, six 5000 PSI DOT cascade bottles with filling station, in 1994 offered for sale-available June,1994-sold to Jon's Truck Sales-Rogersville,MO-picked-up on flat bed and taken to MO along with 1980 Duplex/Pierce from Edge Hill

1967 Hahn 78, Cincinnati canopy cab, 100 ft Thiabault midship mounted aerial ladder, 250 gpm Hale pump, 250 gal tank, diesel motor, auto transmission, model HA-102, delvd 6-21-67, in 1980 sold to Shiloh No.2, East Manchester Twp.(York Co.),PA, in 1989 the main ladder was damaged and was replaced, in 1991 sold to Harrisburg Community College, seen 6-5-93 owned by Friendship-Mt.Joy Lancaster Co.),PA-ladder painted white-body all red-large white letters FD MJ on cab front, in 2000 sold to Mt.Joy resident, in 11-03 seen offered for sale at Bison Motors-Rt 15-Lewisburg,PA, housed 10-21-67, in 8-07 sold to Grant Miller-owner Central Pennsylvania Auto Auction-Lock Haven (Clinton Co.)-offered for re-sale-asked $9500, in 10-07 offered on E-Bay by mbros21-located in Mill Hall,PA-6 KW generator-Detroit diesel-26,251 original miles





PO-MAR-LIN



1964 Duplex/John Bean, Cincinnati canopy cab, 750/750. This was the first canopy cab purchased by the company. It cost $28,000 new, housed 5/15/65. It was sold in 1988 to a developer in Texas to provide fire protection to his development being built.



OXFORD



1969 Dodge C-800/Hahn, full-cab, 1000/750, model HS-10, delivered 1/19/70 at a cost of $25,000, Chrysler 413 CI gas engine, 5-speed/2-speed rear manual transmission. It was sold in 1985 to a dealer.



SADSBURYVILLE



1964 Autocar/Hahn 78, canopy cab, 750/1000, 60 gallon foam tank, model C-7, delivered 11/24/64, 9 KW generator, $30,000, placed into service 1/1/65, housed 8/7/65. This truck represents a couple firsts for this company, a canopy cab, and a new paint scheme, white over red. The engine was rebuilt in 1979. The motor blew a head gasket in the spring of 1994. The original water tank developed a hole in late 1998. Pump rebuilt in 12/02. Still in service today !



1970 International/Welsh, 750/250, front mount pump, open compartmented utility body, 4X4 field piece, positraction rear end, and a V-8 gas motor. It was sold in 1981.



SOUTHERN CHESTER COUNTY RESCUE



1966 GMC, full cab, open utility body, body purchased used, 3/4 ton chassis, air unit, had air compressor. Housed 5/19/73. Replaced in 1975.



NORCO



1962 International VCO/John Bean, 3-man tilt cab, 500/1000, high pressure pump, received in 8/62, sold in 1983 to a McDonald Douglas plant in Florida to be used in the plant fire brigade.

ROTHSVILLE



1959 Mack C-85F, canopy cab, 750/300, delivered 10/30/59, unusual paint scheme, serial #C85F1132. Retained by the company as an antique.





EAST PETERSBURG



1927 Biederman/Prospect Deluge Master Firefighter, open cab, 450 GPM, two chemical tanks, cost $5,475. By 1948, had a 200 gallon water tank. It was last used in 1972 during Hurricanne Agnes. It is still retained by the company as an antique.





1968 Seagrave, K-series, canopy cab, 1000/1000, cost $30,447 new. This was the first canopy cab ordered by the company. In 1983 it was refurbed by LTI for $14,738. It was sold to Reinerton (Schulkill County) in 1989 for $15,000.

IRONVILLE



1946 American LaFrance, Type 600, 500/450, hybrid American LaFrance design, full 2 man cab, GMC truck cab, screened type mesh grill, delivered 10/26/46 at a cost of $7,791, sold to Cal Little-Hummelstown, PA in 1969 who re-sold to a collector in the Netherlands or France, this was Little’s first fire apparatus acquisition.



WOLMESDORF (From Al Powell’s files)



1933 Intl AL-3/Boyertown Body Works, remounted and rebuilt body from 1917 Martin-added 350 gpm Hale rotary-gear pump, two tank chemical system, no windshield, chemical hose basket on top of body, known as "Old Barney", at special co.meeting on 5-11-33 decided to rebuild-chassis purchased from Calvin P.Berger-local Intl dealer for $2060.50-subcontracted body work to Boyertown Body Works, delvd and housed in July,1933, open cab-windshield added, converted to booster system with reel on top of body, chassis had 1½-ton rating, 6 cylinder 1956 Mercury 292 motor, see A CENTURY OF VEHICLE CRAFTSMANSHIP-by Erminie Shaeffer Hafer-1972-Pg 114 for Boyertown delv photo, see AMERICAN FIRE ENGINES SINCE 1900-Walt McCall-1976-pg 145 for later photo, in early 80s retired from service-used as parade piece, in 3-85 sold to past chief John F.Schoener,Sr, in

2002 possibly in Gouglersville (Berks Co.) area



STEVENS



1951 Chevrolet 6400/Pirsch, full cab, 500/300. Housed 10/51, 3 stage high pressure pump with foam, model HP2L, ordered chassis from Martin & Metzler, body cost $6,300.



THORNDALE



1961 Ford C-800/National Foam, full cab, 750/750, gas motor, 5-speed manual transmission. It was housed in 8/61 at a cost of $17,000. Repainted LYW at Jerry’s Auto Body of Thorndale in 1979. James W. Rice was the fire chief and the owner of the body shop. It was sold in 1982 at a truck auction.

This is actualy the 1971 Ford/National Foam, former Engine 38-3 as seen in the photo below...

Correction on the Thorndale rig: (Thanks Dan)



1971 Ford C907-153/National Foam, full cab, 750/750. It was housed on 6/26/71. Not much difference from the rig which was bought in 1961. Cost $38,000, the twp. Paid $9,641 for the chassis, V-8 gas motor, 5-speed manual transmission. It was purchased by the township. Repainted LYW at Jerry’s Auto Body of Thorndale in 1979. James W. Rice was the fire chief and the owner of the body shop. It was loaned to the East Brandywine Fire Company (Chester County) on 11/25/98 when they sold one of their engines and they were waiting the delivery of their new quint. Returned to Thorndale on 2/3/99. It was donated to the Renovo FC (Clinton County) on 9/16/01. It was never lettered by Renovo. It was either sold or traded to some type of broker. Gone by 2005. For sale on E-Bay on 01/06 by someone from Hagerstown, MD with a blown head gasket.

Warren, thanks so much for posting these pics I've been searching forever for pics of this ladder. I grew up in Connellsville and spent many a day hanging out at both the East side and West side station as a young buff.
