Illinois - photog999 - 04-07-2011 Thanks for the help Bill. Illinois - Guest - 04-07-2011 Wow.. Billy slow day on the dog walking job?? when are you come visit the old 3 house? Illinois - A/TCEMSPM - 04-07-2011 The Reason you might show the Tri-State Pioneer as Hinsdale when the Arrow is shown as Darien is quite possibly because Headquarters is currently at Station 2. Where as when the Pioneer was purchased Headquarters might have been Station 1. Like I said before, Station 1 is in unincorporated Hinsdale and Station 2 is in Darien. Just a guess though. I do know that all of the Tri-state units pictured were original to the department. The 81 ALF was supposedly a San Fransisco Reject but I do not recall that completely. Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 Here's a few more for tonite. This is another rig that fought a lot of fire in it's career and it ran as a spare until the Darley rig's were delivered in 1997 Maywood, IL Engine 505 1972 ALF 1000 Series 1500/500 Serial# 2566 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 here's a few classic's from Melrose Park. Melrose Park, IL Engine 702 1972 Mack CF-600 1250/500 CF685F12-1425 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 Melrose Park, IL Engine 703 1954 IH/Central St.Louis 1000/250 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 Melrose Park, IL Engine 703 1983 Ford C/Darley 1000/500 Serial# 62375 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 Melrose Park. IL Engine 704 1968 Ford C/Darley 1000/250 Serial# 80277 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 Melrose Park, IL 1974 Mack CF-600 1250/500 Serial#CF685F-1704 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 Here's the same rig after a 1990 rehab by RPI. Dennis Metzger photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 I know this has been posted before but this is one of the best shots I've seen of this unique and somewhat reclusive piece. Melrose Park, IL Snorkel 705 1966 Seagrave 1000/200 90' Snorkel Serial# P-5830 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 Westchester, IL Engine 312 1960 Seagrave 1000/350 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 Westchester, IL Engine 313 1973 Ford C/Pierce 1000/750 Serial#8583-C John Tulipano photo This rig was destroyed in a rollover accident in 1984 or 85 at the corner of Mannheim Rd. and Canterbury Ave. as they were responding to a working house fire. Fortunately there were no majot injuries. Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 And here's the rig that replaced the Pierce and was just recently replaced in the last couple years by another E\-One engine. Westchester, IL Engine 313 1985 Spartan/E-One 1500/750 Serial#E-1-4368 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 Here's the brother to the '85 E\-One, built to the same specs and it relaced the '60 Seagrave. Westchester, IL Engine 314 1986 Spartan/E-One 1500/750 Serial# E-1-4691 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 These next 2 rigs are unique pieces for the Chicago area. These 2 Maxim's were very few in the Midwest. Another little trivia piece about Westchester is in the mid '70's they went to a black over red color scheme when Dave Fornell (a name a lot of people in the business should know) was Chief from 1973 to about 1975 or '76. This engine got the wheels run off it in the '70's when it ran as the "Flying Squad" for the old Battalion 7 Mutual Aid Group which is now part of MABAS Division 20. the rig was manned daily from 0800-1800hrs with 6-7 firefighters, one from each department in the Battalion and they took in all reported structure fires and AFA's in the 7 towns. Westchester, IL Engine 314 1964 Maxim S 1000/500 Serial# 2442 John Tulipano photo Illinois - photog999 - 04-08-2011 Westchester,IL Truck 315 1975 Maxim F 250/200 100' MM Dennis Metzger photo This truck has been replaced by an E\-One quint and was rehabbed with a new body and ladder removal into the Division Tech Rescue rig. That is all for tonite. Many more rigs to scan here. Illinois - Guest - 04-13-2011 That truck is now at University of Illinois - Fire Service Institute.
Deerfield, IL 1984 Spartan/Pirsch 110'RM PQ-48
Illinois - Guest - 04-14-2011 That Buick ended up in Maywood for a while when they crashed the "E" Squad.
This photo by now retired Hillside Firefighter Frank Schnurstein from about 1974 shows the old '64 Buick ambo and the new '73 Dodge/Wayne I believe, [osed on the front ramp of the station. Compare these rigs to whats running their currently. Quite a difference thru the years! Photo posted with the permission of Frank Schnurstein.
