If you are referring to the boxes in the hosebed, Engine 103 carries some extra rescue gear (struts, airbags)in those boxes since they are part of the USAR task force.

Each engine company tends to vary what they keep in those diamondplate boxes. Many companies carry extra hose/hose packs or their wildland gear whole others keep misc equipment in there.
