Hahn...post them if you got them. - Frank B - 03-01-2007 I could not belive it! The firefighters told me it would not start, so I took these photos inside the station. Notice the one to the left, My personal Icon is different, a different rooster and it says Hahn under the bird. Hahn...post them if you got them. - Frank B - 03-01-2007 When I was in Grottos I got the Hahn information, and soon found out the cheif of Weyers Cave now owns the Hahn! So I stopped by next year, and photographed the Hahn outside. (2004) Hahn, 1948 Custom. Hahn id #6516-R This chassis reminds me of the Pirsch and Oren cabs from the same time. This cab was also used as a comercial vehicle chassis by Hahn. The chassis before thid was the Butterfly style Hahn, and also was used on commercial vehicles. (See post #295 Laurel DE) This was the last Hahn cab built before the 1960's Cincinnatti cab. The one that was sold to Leipsic,DE was a 1929 reg.no.6246. It had a 350 gom pump. Although shadowed in the parade photo, it had the vertical bars before the radiator which is a distinguishing feature of Hahns that were built in the Allentown,PA factory in that era. It appears to be painted red in the photo, It was at one time painted yellow. The other Hahn lettered for Roslyn is a 1926 reg.,no.6183. It was yellow in the photo. It had a 500 gpm pump. In 1947 it was sold to Upper Black Eddy (Bucks Co.),PA. In 1928, Hahn bought the Selden Motor Company, in Allentown, and built Hahn custom chassis there until 1932. Al was referring to the grille style on the rigs built at the Allentown facility having their own unique design, compared to those later built in Hamburg. However in 1927 Hahn purchased the contents, equipment and large multi-story building of the Bethlehem Motors Corp.-South Allentown,PA. A new home was built in Allentown and production was moved from Hamburg where a repair facility was maintained. In 1929 a group of bankers purchsed Selden Motor Trucks in Rochester,NY. Under the direction of Bill Hahn, Selden-Hahn motor trucks were produced from the 1929 through mid-1932 era in Allentown. The depression put this enterprise out of business. In 1932 production returned to Hamburg as Hahn Motors,Inc. If you see a Hahn custom fire apparatus with those verticle rods before the radiator, it was built in Allentown. I should have know because the Roslyn truck is an older style. But I have seen this before, a remounted (Selden) Hahn chassis on an older rig. I need to find a better photo of the 1929 Hahn. My confusion was added by the fact that the 1926 Hahn I have in the Hahn list as Upper Black Eddy origionaly, The Hahn list has done this a few times, re: Coatsville/ Unionville Hahn, Upper Darby #3/East Lansdowne Hahn. While we are on the subject, Penryn(Lancaster County PA) Hahn has an Allentown Hahn ID, but a 1930's style Hahn grill. The Hahns saved DC during the combat years, when the Ford C'/E-One's fell apart at the seams.
