Thanks,

This is the only Glen Echo pic I have available to post; a 1950 ALF 700-series ?/?

I have a 1952 Chevy step-van that BCC had, did this later go to Glen Echo?

I took my information from the foremost Mack authority in the free world as we know it today, Mr. Harvey Eckart, and his book "Mack Fire Trucks 1911-2005 An Illustrated History".

Thanks for providing the information.

I think ol' Harv was referring to rigs built solely by Mack, as his earlier Mack book made mention of a "number" of fire trucks built on N chassis. He also provided the same years of production as I did in the earlier book.

Dr.

That GMC is the same one that got the SWAB Body if I recall. I was a member back then when it was done and we took a ride up to SWAB to see it. This is when BCC bought the small IH Squad that was numbered Rescue 18. Tillerman ya got a pic of that one????

Great looking trucks!!

Looks like ALOT of thought went into the design. Is the Roto-ray LED?

Cosgrove, I was under the impression that BCC had 2 GMC's, but after comparing pics (see attached) it looks like you are correct - do you remember what year that was? Was anything done with the Bruco body after the Swab box was put on? Thanks for enlightening me!

Dr

Lets see I think it was around 70 or 71 . The Bruco body was left at Swab for them to dispose of.

On another note in the middle of the hood in front was a small door to check the radiator through. We waould alsways coment we knew we were going 65 MPH when it popped up <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/BananaMan.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='BananaMan' />

Whoops! Looks like someone got them mixed up. But then how can you confuse a Screaming Eagle with a Federal Q? Oh well.

Montgomery County MD - Guest - 07-28-2007

They made alot of changes from that original press release and the bid that were submitted.

Montgomery County MD - Guest - 07-29-2007

We are armed with a fresh disc of scans and it's time to kick life into this topic!!!

1st some odd stuff that didn't make the first few pages...

Silver Spring VFD way back in the mid 30's, with 2 ALF engines on the left, and 2 unknowns on the right. Note that old Sta.1 had its original 2 doors at this time.

Unknown photographer, Jenkins collection

Montgomery County MD - Guest - 07-29-2007

Silver Spring VFD had a mix of Seagrave, ALF, and Macks from the 30's to the 60's.

There were at least 1 pair of 1951 Mack L-85 750 GPM engines.

This is a photo of old Sta. 3 in 'downtown' Rockville probably post WWII, this station lasted from 1925-66.

It must have been a thrill to watch all the vintage Macks come roaring out to a call, with a young T. OK, back to the pics!

Here's a mystery for our Montco experts - the rig is a 1959 Seagrave 1000/300, but this photo was taken at the original Sta.21, which was a shed located at ???. The present Sta. 21 was opened in 1962.

Another view of the engine and its shed. A Seagrave Anniversary rig looks somewhat ludicrous coming out of a shed! And yes, this was the CORGI model.
