Dave Fritz It is no longer in service. I believe the rig you were refferring to was a GMC cab with a 1967 Seagrave TDA. It also came out of company 2's house. Also long retired. X-HUNTINGTON MANOR LI NY BOUGHT BY BROAD CHANNEL VOLUNTEERS (NOW RETIRED) PHOTO BY HWDOYLE Empire State Oldies - Guest - 08-11-2006 Empire State Oldies - Guest - 08-11-2006 Yuck! What a HORRIBLE color to paint a noble rig like that! LOL! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/usa.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> IT WAS A NICE SHADE OF DARK RED WITH GOLD LEAF OF COURSE. BUT THE CHIEF OF THE VOLLIES WANTED TO BE DIFFERANT AND BROAD CHANNEL OPERATED WITHIN THE CONFINES OF NYC AND WOULD RESPOND TO CALLS ON THE ISLAND WITH FDNY. THIS ALLOWED THE CITIZENS TO SEE WHERE THEIR DONATIONS WERE GOING AS BROAD CHANNEL IS NOX TAX SUBSIDIZED. Throughout it's history, Broad Channel was only able to purchase one new rig, a 1959 Ford Darley for the sum of $12,500. Dave Fritz
Part of the rig is still in service - the trailer was rehabbed and is now Hilton Head SC Ladder 6, albeit with an ALF Metropolitan tractor. Once they got the rig, it took Hilton Head almost a year to get it into regular service. The KW tractor was scrapped, I believe.
