Ambulances - WoburnFire184 - 10-12-2006 Massachusetts Old LIFELINE Ambulance #22 (Ed burke used to work on this one!) Also, regarding the occasional use of the 8 series numbers on the air, that is being discontinued due to another jurisdiction coming on line. FFX used to use the 8 series for certain volunteer pieces.[/quote] fd2119, My apologies....I am late adding input to your question about the numbers on Fairfax County units. Just some additional items... The photo of Annanadale's new ambulance - it is Medic or Ambulance 408 - 4 represents Fairfax County and 08 is Station 8 in Annandale. The other number you see on the ambo (802) is the county shop vehicle number. All Fairfax County apparatus, both career and volunteer units, have a county number assigned to them. If you look at Springfield's ambo 422, you will notice a "224" on the front, which is the county shop number. One thing I have noticed with newer volunteer apparatus - the county shop number on newer units seems to be more visible than in the past. I recall after photographing some units it was difficult finding that number.
