Philly took delivery of a 1949 85' open cab tiller for Ladder #13. My notes are second-handed, but I don't see any deliveries to Philly in 1952. I'll dig more when I have some more time.

Here are all of the 700 Series - 65 footers that Philadelphia took delivery of. (according to the list that I have...) They are all 1950 models.

The Southern Chester County rig then went to the Longwood Fire Department right up the street when the rescue squad folded. Am not sure if it is still there.

Not sure where the old Pete went, but Longwood replaced it a couple years back with a Quantum.

The Peterbuilt/Swab was sold from Longwood to Cochranville in Chester County, PA. and then sold again to Cherry Tree in Indiana County, PA. It was just recently sold on the firetec website. Look under recently sold apparatus.

Gentlemen,

Here is the COMPLETE history on the Perterbilt/Swab rescue:

1979 Peterbilt/Swab, full cab, custom enclosed walk-in rescue. It was purchased used in 1990 by the Southern Chester County rescue Association from the Pikesville Fire Company of Maryland for $84,000. On 12/28/92 during a ice storm, it slid into a telephone pole on Cypress Street in the Kennett Borough and sustained $3,000-4,000 damage to the front bumper and roof lights. Given to the Longwood Fire Company (Chester County) on 4/23/93 when the association disbanded. Longwood had it repainted RW by Swab in September of 1993, model HDR-20, serial no. 4007, delivered 11/80. Sold by Longwood in early 1999 to the Cochranville Fire Company (Chester County), placed into service on 6/14/99. Motor replaced in 2001. Replaced and sold in 2006 to the Cherry Hill Twp. (Indiana County). The A/C and coffin compartments on the roof had to be removed so it would fit in the firehouse at Cherry Hill. For sale by Cherry Hill Twp. in early 2008. Sold to the Champman Police Dept. (Hall County, GA).

GA Dave - if you are in that area of Hall County, could use of picture of it at it's new home. I presume they will repaint it.

Bruce,

One mistake with the Peterbilt/Swab Rescue. It was sold to Cherry Tree FD in Indiana County, PA. not Cherryhill twp FD. I was out a few months ago and found that out.

I spent the first 6 1/2 years of my life in Sharon Hill. Born at Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park. I actually lived on the Sharon Hill/ Upper Darby line. Very cool to see this piece. Thanks for posting it!
