Back in 1991, the Kensington VFD used its new Sta.25 in Aspen Hill to pose its entire apparatus fleet for posterity.
Pictured are: 7 Seagrave engines, 2 Seagrave TDA's, 3 WLF/3D engines, 1 Sutphen tower, 1 Mack CF/Swab rescue, and over a dozen brush, utility, support, and gut buckets.

I believe that the SHED was located where the now Wheaton Plaza is on University Blvd.

Bethesda FD CO.6 was once located in this station on Old Georgetown RD. It was vacated in 1970.

The last commercial chassis engine for BFD was this 1974 Ford L-9000/Oren 1250/500. It would be xtremely rebuilt in 1987 by Mt. Aetna Body Works of Hagerstown, MD.,with a 4-door cab and new body. It would see many parts of the county as a spare thru-out the 1990's.

Hawkins Point has it as I have it on Kensington's previous Station 21. To add to the confusion, in 1956 KVFD began detailing an engine from their then No 2 Glenmont station (now 18's) to a garage at one of the model homes at then new Veirs Mill Village. Where exactly this was I have no idea. That was the same year 18's got the one and only Pirsch that was supposedly that stations first "new" engine. In 1958, came the shed as shown at Randolph and Dewey officially KVFD Station 3 later moving to Randolph and Parkland in 1962 todays Station 21. For all I know the shed shown may have been the same or general area as the garage of the model.
On the Bethesda rigs heres what I have to add to this melee. No 2 the open cab Mack L, I have as a '50. I recall it still as E61 just after the move to the new Station 6 replaced not too soon after by the '71 Ford L, Pirsch. No 5 the Chevy Pirsch I have as a '57. I recall it as E63 the "reserve" from the new Station 6. I suspect it first ran as E202 behind the '57 Mack B No 4. E202 later received a similar '60 model that was No 6. No 5 probably moved obver as E62 until the '67 Chevy Hahn. I don't remember that at the old Station 6 (doesn't mean it wasn't there) but yes at the new house as E62. (This one also gets identified as a '70 model often) It moved to E201 about 1974, E63 in 1980 and to the academy as shown in 1988. On the '71 Ford L Pirsch, E61 then to E201 in 1980 then to Midland in Allegheny County MD in 1983. Rusty, thanks to you and H.P., I think we can put that mystery to rest about the 1st "21", the funny thing is, after I got those photos from Kimball a few years ago, I took time on my courier route at the time to cruise the streets of that neighborhood, trying to match up the background. Some Bethesda FD aerials:
BFD had a lone ALF 700 series aerial for many years, in 1966 this Pirsch 100' Mid-mount joined the fleet. In late 1980, the members of BFD decided to construct the wooden cab roof to cover the open cab. It would run like this for close to 10 years more. This was another rig that was a treat to watch respond.

BFD went back to Pirsch in 1969 for another 100' mid- mount, this one with a closed cab. Originally all red, it was repainted in the 80's and would go on to a 2nd life at another Montco FD. (more on that later)

This 1977 Seagrave 100' rear-mount served at Bethesda until the early 90's, and then was rehabed twice in 1992-93, the 2nd time after being caught in a natural gas explosion while serving as Trk 8 in Gaithersburg. It went to the training academy eventually, and was last seen in Madison,MD. where mechanical and ladder problems may have led to its demise?

Moving on, this I think is a chief's car, Chevy Chase FD has been an all-paid dept. since the mid-50's.
