DCFD Photos, old or new - Guest - 02-17-2013 Quote:Looks like it made it to 1 fire, any w-a-gs about the incident? I'm thinking that's an old canteen on the right?Warren, This photo was taken at the IAFC Convention outside of the old Washington Convention Center...(I should know, I drove the rig there from the shop!!!!) And you are correct, that is the old Car 5 in the background...btw, the hoseline was used to supply the steamers that pumped from a Fol-Da-Tank in front of the entrance. Gotta like those old school MPD cruisers! DCFD Photos, old or new - Guest - 02-18-2013 Quote:St. Elizabeth's Hospital FD Station, 2011 When this station was still in use by St E's FD prior to DCFD take over, it was rumored to be the oldest active federal firehouse. DCFD Photos, old or new - Guest - 02-22-2013 Quote:This I think is an x-St. Elizabeth's engine, a 1966 IH R-185/FTI 750/300, running as a spare pumper.Yes that is the original custom built Chevrolet step van Canteen Unit "Car 5" in the background. Prior to that, a myriad of station wagons etc were used by the FFA to make coffee runs. The Chevy is being preserved in Carroll County now. DCFD Photos, old or new - Guest - 02-23-2013
To anyone out there who is on Facebook, please consider supporting this page, which is dedicated to a friend's 4 year old son named Hunter (Roanoke, VA), who was recently diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, and dreams of being a Fireman one day. Individuals and Departments from all around the Country have pulled together in support of him and making him part of our unique "family". Hunter's father and myself admin the page, and the outpouring of support he has received from places like Fairfax County, Arlington County, DCFD and the City of Alexandria's FD has been nothing short of AMAZING. During a 3 day tour from Roanoke to NOVA the events scheduled in support of this wonderful child still bring tears to my eyes, along with his father's. But the reach has been so far beyond Virginia…. which blows all our minds. He, his father and sister are truly wonderful people (Hunter's mother passed away suddenly a few years ago from an acute pulmonary embolism) and every inch of support strengthens him. Thanks for reading, gents.

https://www.facebook.../TEAMHUNTER2008

Video:
http://youtu.be/SS1XhjddIzU

Many thanks, and stay safe. Thanks for reading, gents. I will echo Nate's comments. I have been blessed to get to know Hunter's dad and hopefully shed a little light into Hunter's life. Super kid! That looks like Dunn Loring's canteen back behind the MPD Diplomat on the other side of the street too. DCFD Photos, old or new - stokess - 04-23-2013 A25, the one that got rear ended a few months back - what was the story with it? Saw it yesterday at Horton's factory looking at how DCFD mounted their MCT's for our new units and we all felt we had heard the story in the news but none of us could recall.
