Noticed last year down in Wildwood... Seagraves said they logos are "property" of the City of NY and the logos could not be photographed. The whole thing after 9-11 and MIS-USE of the FDNY and Logos spured the issue. Some of the guys who do Models (Kitbashing) and make and sell the decals have been hunted down by City Lawyers. The TRADEMARK and COPYWRITE laws were mentioned....

Can't make this "STUFF" up when red tape and NYC is involved!!! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Icon_crazy' />

Remember a couple of years back when the City banned the individual fire companies from using their individual logos? I believe that this has all happened under the reign of Mike Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg financial networks on radio and tv.

Was stopped at a traffic light outside the quarters of Engine 54 / Ladder 4 on Wednesday afternoon and grabbed this quick shot with the BlackBerry. Very nice tribute for 9-11.

Visiting NY for the Rosh Hashanah holiday, while on the way to my family's house for dinner Wednesday night, I looked at my BlackBerry while at a red light at VanDam Street approaching the LIE and saw there was an "All Hands" fire near the Brooklyn/Queens line. A quick GPS check showed the fire was just 1.2 miles away. A "no brainer", we were going, much to my wife's delight - not! But my older son Jordan (age 10) was excited to be going to his first New York City fire! The fire was out when we arrived, but I had to take a few pictures anyway to document the occassion - and Jordan did also! And, he was sooooo excited when a firefighter asked him if he wanted to sit inside Tower Ladder 146. For the "buffs", this was Box 0027, at 110 Green St|BC-45 rpts AHW fire in a 6-stry 200x360 OMD, L-146 FAST, LSO, DWH.

So, the next day (Thursday), we were wrapping up dinner at my wife's grandmother's house in Glen Oaks (E251 first due) when I heard sirens.... a few different ones ... approaching ...

Stepping outside, Jordan spotted a Tower Ladder passing on the Cross Island Pkwy a few blocks to the west .. and I spotted the new "pickup" style BC 53, my old "home chief", a block away. The kids got the keys to the Jeep, and off we went! Turns out a block or so away there was a box out for an odor of gas in a dwelling.

I captured a few "grab shots" of the new BC53 .. I like it!

PS - I should spend more time at my wife's grandmother's house. Last year after Rosh Hashanah dinner I took in a 3rd alarm, photos from which ran on the cover of WNYF, 4th/2009.
