A Public Information Officer is created within the Fire Prevention Division in 2003. The PIO attends all serious incidents as the media relations officer, as well as public education events. The PIO is assigned this 2003 Ford Excursion.

A dedicated Safety Officer position is also established in 2003. This is designed to free up the second battalion chief who used to be assigned as the safety officer. SO1 is assigned this 2003 Ford F350
