Keystone State Relics - OPEN CAB MACK - 02-08-2009
Partially correct. It was an armored car chassis (with a big armored box) on the back for the NYS Thruway. It was such a huge chassis as it had to travel from one end to the other and collect the coin monies (quite heavy by the time you got done!) It was purchased by the Warrington Fire Company, Bucks County Company 29, and Saulsbury mounted the rescue box.
It is now at Woodruff, Spartanburg County, South Carolina. It had an issue with the engine as it was ready to enter the PA turnpike at Irwin. It had well over a 175,000 miles on it when #4 sold it. Keystone State Relics - Guest - 02-08-2009 Pat jr., the Boswell rig is a 1953 IH/Bruco 1000/750, replaced in 1978 by the Hahn, then went to Acosta,PA for 5 years, and was sold by them in 1983 to unknown??? Keystone State Relics - Guest - 02-09-2009
The Arnold No. 2 B-Model Mack was a 1953. It was in service until 1976 when the engine failed and was towed to their public works garage. They used New Kensington's 1949 L-Model Mack for about a year until the City of Arnold purchased a 1977 Mack CF-600. The CF served until 1995 when the city purchased an HME/New Lexington. The CF was sold to Goose Creek Rural Vol. Fire Co. in South Carolina. The B sat at the public works garage for years with the chrome grill rusting away wth the rest of the truck. And in 1982 Arnold No. 1 purchased a 1956 B-Model Mack chassis from J.C. Moore Industries for $1,000.00. This chassis formerly served McDonald, PA. The members took the pump and body from #2's B-Model and placed it on the newer B. They then added a 10,000 watt generator and an air cascade system. This was the first light and air piece in northern Westmoreland County. It was also the second engine out of No. 1 in Arnold. This truck was sold to someone in the Saxonburg, Butler County area about 6 years ago.
My dad was driving the truck back from a parade when it lost oil pressure and the engine froze up. Then they abominated it by hacking it up and painting it that pee yellow color <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Keystone State Relics - Guest - 02-10-2009 Bellevue 1967 Seagrave 1250/500 Tom Bair Photo Braddock 1951 ALF 750/250 X-PBF John Schmidt Photo Brentwood 1976 Brockway/Howe/LTI 100' "Big Mama" One of a Kind Tom Bair Photo Carnegie 1950 Mack 1000/?
