The next fire dept was an interesting place to go to. St. Charles reminded me of a very poor, mountainous coal town that you might find in West Virginia, lots of small 1920s era houses worth at most $40-45,000. We were told this was not an area you wanted to be in at night because it was a rough area so we shot the trucks that were outside and left as quickly as we came. At any rate, here is St. Charles' station, only a 3 bay station with the rest of the equipment sitting outside in the elements.

Was former Engine 55, the assigned to Engine 60, after that was in our reserve pool. We received two of these rigs in 1986. Engine 16 received the other. That 86 Spartan was totalled in a auto accident.

I've gotten to know the chief at Jasper after visiting there several times. Great guy, but the department is very, very strapped for money. Here's what's found in the bays:
