Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 10-22-2012 Also disposed of, I believe as a trade in to Pierce was Reserve Engine 102 (Ex Engine 1 1996-2004), a 1996 KME 1500/500/50f. Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 10-22-2012 Squad 3's former piece, 2006 Pierce Dash 1500/500/250f, will be held in reserve (not sure if it will be Engine 103 or Squad 103). Wilmington, DE New Squad - BFD190 - 10-22-2012 Thanks for the info... curious... did you guys have a problem with the equipment that you had on the rescue fitting on the squad. Were you able to get the majority of the equipment into the new compartation? Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 10-22-2012 And lastly, Engine 1031999 KME 1500/500/50f (ex Engine 3 1999-2006) was reassigned as Engine 102 at Station 2. When the second Dash CF arrives, Engine 104, 1996 KME 1500/500/50f (Ex Engine 3 1996-1999 and Ex Engine 5 1999-2006) will be disposed of, I believe this is also being traded to Pierce. Not sure what the final disposition of the former Special Ops 1 (ex Rescue 1 2002 KME) will be. Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 10-22-2012
Thanks for the info... curious... did you guys have a problem with the equipment that you had on the rescue fitting on the squad. Were you able to get the majority of the equipment into the new compartation?
All the equipment that was on the engine fit with no issue, save for the largest airbag. That said, very little of the extra equipment that I think they intended to be placed on the new squad from the special ops unit will fit. For instance, the stokes basket is sitting in the open in a hosebed compartment, and the backboard is attached to the rear wall in the jump seats. Since this was a demo, we have been told that the custom built squad, with a smaller water tank, will have more space. That remains to be seen. Also remains to be seen how well the trailer set up is going to work. but I certainly have my doubts to say the least. Wilmington, DE New Squad - Guest - 10-22-2012 Rob, The reserve KME that was traded in popped up on Brindlee Mountain the other day. I was going to message ya to ask which it was, but now I don't need to. Thanks Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 10-22-2012 Looks so much nicer on Brindlee Mountain's site....That truck went through the wringer when it was at 1, to say the least Wilmington, DE New Squad - anesti - 10-22-2012 Maybe it was a old article but I was reading that if the new mayor gets elected he will look to reopen Rescue 1 Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 10-22-2012
Maybe it was a old article but I was reading that if the new mayor gets elected he will look to reopen Rescue 1
I wouldn't count on that....there will be a new chief, and there will be some changes to operations, but I don't know if that is in the cards.....Like anything else, never believe anything you hear, and only believe half of what you see!!! Wilmington, DE New Squad - senatobiafire704 - 10-22-2012
I am surprised at the "big" comment. These trucks have fairly short wheelbases in the 190" range and are only about 30' long. This one looks quite nice with the low hosebed, it appears to be a good pumper with loads of extra compartments. Why would this not fit into the operational scheme of most departments??
Big meaning that they are bigger than most of the urban engines with shorter wheel bases, etc. It would be a perfect fit for a dept such as mine with very little staffing and a more suburban, wider road setting. Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 04-18-2013 Wilmington, DE new Squad 1. 2013 Pierce Dash CF, 1500/500/100 class B foam. Placed into service on 4/8/13. Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 04-18-2013 Another view of the Officer's side Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 04-18-2013 Driver's side Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 04-18-2013 New company patch on rear compartment doors. Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 04-18-2013 Rear of apparatus. Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 04-18-2013 A better shot of the rear. Not sure what to think of this set up. Looks to me like it is set up to be a rescue truck that occasionally puts hose on the street and functions as an engine company. Whereas, in the case of this company, not set up to be an engine company that responds to over 3500 calls per year that quite frequently puts hose on the street, yet occasionally functions as a rescue company too. Looks like they might need a mountain goat to get up there! Wilmington, DE New Squad - Rob Pryor - 04-18-2013 The engine that the new Dash is replacing, a 2004 Pierce Dash 1500/500/250 class B foam. This engine has been reassigned as reserve Engine 104. |
