Not Fire but EMS Rescue Company 2

NJMedic,

Nice shots. One thing you always get to see when touring the city is a reserve rig. I don't think they ever have all the actual rigs in service at once. Hopefully that is changing though. On another note, Rescue 2 was destroyed from what the paid guy at their station told me. He stated that they were at a call and somehow ripped the back axle out from underneath it. Whenever I was there the new Pierce Rescues were in station yet and they were using one of the old IHC/Sabre Rescue's

When I first looked at this pic I thought the front read "TAXI" then I realized it was TAX1. I wonder how many people in the steel city might think the same thing?

Just saw on Seagrave.com that Pittsburgh was delivered a Maurader II aerial. Any info/pics?

Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire - Guest - 12-13-2007

The City of Pittsburgh just took delivery of 1 of 2 Seagrave Marauder II 100' aerials. The new truck will be assigned to Truck 32, the second that is due in a few weeks will go to Truck 14. These will be the last of the Seagrave Aerials from what I understand with 3 Pierce Arrow XT 105' Aerials on order. Here are some pictures of the new Seagrave courtesy of Asst. Chief Jim Crawford.

Nice pics Pat. That is a good looking truck. Any particular reason why the city is not going with Seagrave for more rigs?

Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire - Guest - 12-14-2007

Sorry, I don't have an answer for that one. This is my own opinion, I'm gonna guess that it has to do with having a Pierce Dealer and facility within a 30 minute drive, and there is no Seagrave Dealer for the area that I know of.

It seems as if PBF is trying a little bit from everyone. 3 new KME engines, 2 Seagraves and some Pierces, in addition to the Ferrara's, Toynes, ALF/Spartans they already have.

Thats definitely a nice mix. I guess they are exploring all their options. I'm surprised they don't have more ALF in the fleet.

The Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire has more KME engines due shortly. Plans are to have Pierce as the manufacturer of aerials and KME for engines.

Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire - Guest - 11-08-2008

Pittsburgh will be taking final delivery of its aerials in the next week or so.

The new IHC/KME Mac Unit will replaced Mac #1. I never made it out Thursday, but I'm hoping at least one more trip to get the new quint.

Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire - Guest - 12-22-2008

Good thread--that new Pierce for L26 is sharp!

Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire - Guest - 12-22-2008

Haven't made a trip out to Pittsburgh since winter hit. I'm planning on making a trip out in the spring to start. The new trucks should be in service, or going in service shortly. The two new KME engines should be nearing completion as well as the Mac Unit. The 4 newest trucks are due in early April.

No, they are more likely to confuse taxi with ambulance.

And for whatever reasons alot of the departments have been running spares lately. 14 Truck is notorious for running a spare.

I think people confuse taxi for an ambulance everywhere
