Thanks!! That '40 Seagrave, bottom of the 3 pics I postedabove, is a nice truck. And it's got a better ride than some of the more current trucks in the club. Lots of engine work went into it by the owner, and now it runs like a champ !!!!!

Our club's February meeting at a country club near our storage place. At the meeting we had a 1977 Maxim F Series ladder, 1942 Chevrolet Mack ( ex US Army ) pumper, 1963 ALF 900 Series pumper, my Crown 'squirt, 71 Ford C-800 ALF pumper, 1950(?) ALF 700 Series pumper, and the latest addition 1940 Seagrave ladder truck.

The weather was overcast and grey, so the pictures aren't that great. There will be other times to shoot this great looking lineup.

On Saturday ( 24th ) our fire truck club took 4 our of rigs to a train museum in Parrish. About a 130 miles r/t approx. Was a good run for the trucks that went and it was a good time for all the members. Here are some pics of the Crown at the event.

I tried to adjust the resolution on these pics and brought the size down. But it's hit or miss most of the time. Lets see how these 4 go.

I am going to add a pic of one of our members '40 Seagrave, another members '50 ALF 700 series, both nice rigs. Then the city of Bradenton brought their antique, 1926 but not sure who made it, and Anna Maria Island brought their Pirsch ladder

Here is the '50 ALF 700 Series and below that is the '40 Seagrave Ladder

Thanks for the picture of the 1950 American LaFrance 700 Series. Beautiful! <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

Although I was never a big ALF fan, this is one of the nicest looking 700's I've seen at events. At the person put alot of time into restoring this truck and as you can see in the pics, it's paid off big time. Definitely an eye catcher at any event we go to.

Thanks for the kind words. Worked very hard the few days before to wash, wax, and do some work on the chrome. A friend of mine recommended using was products called GRIOTS, a silicone free wax and polishes. It has done magic to what was a faded front end, but as you can see in the pics, the shine is coming back.

The truck has it's war wounds, paint chips, dent on right fender, but the truck runs and drives like a caddy ! She received her annual service, oil filters, oil, grease, etc, the hyd boom got it's greasing, and the power steering fluid was drained, rinsed with mystery oil, then filled with new oil. And now the truck really steers smoothly.

I love the truck, and it drives even better. It's fun fun fun. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Big Grin' />

Marc. I must've been crazy to get a squirt, cause for the last 2 days I extended out the ladder and used chrome polish and tried to take some of the crud and oxidation off the aluminum. For the first run it came off pretty good. But I think if I give it one more try with a new polish a friend recommended and a buffer it will really shine.

Thanks for the nice comments I appreciate it. When am I going to get to see some new pics of yours?

Any plans on returning the fire extinguisher(s) to the front end? We had a 1952 ALF setup the same way, and I kind-of liked it. (Excuse the garden hose in the picture; we were having an issue with a head gasket at the time.)

I took them off when I wanted to give the truck an overall good cleaning and waxing. What I saw was the brackets and exting's were killing the front paint on the Crown. So for now I am keeping them off. I like the cleaner look with them off. I took my CO2 exting and mounted it on the right side behind the discharges where the old Dry Chem was. I always want to have at least one functioning exting on the rig.

Here is a pic of the exting's on front on the day of delivery, and one without them from January.

Without the help of a good friend of mine in the club and his mechanical expertise I would not have been able to mount the Crown Axe bracket or the chrome axe handle holder. Here is a picture of the completed job. One's from inside the garage and the othe outside. It looks good to me. Mario and Trina yours was a great idea and I hope you don't mind me copying but man it sure adds a nice touch to the ladder. What'ya think?

Then........I saw how filthy and oxidized the ladder looked from the pictures, so pneumatic buffer in hand, with Griots Mag Wheel Cleaner which is awesome stuff buffed and polished the entire ladder, both sections in one night. Here's the results.

Lastly, a view of the garage, or what we affectionately like to call The Firehouse, to show some of the other rigs in there. '40 Seagrave Ladder, 50 ALF 700 Pumper, and way in the back there is a 74 Mack CF Closed cab. And just those few are just a portion of what's in there !!!!

ROAD TRIP !

Today ( Sunday ) the weather was beautiful. So I jumped into the Crown, and went down to the beaches area for a ride. For you Floridians, St. Pete Beach, Pass A Grille, Fort DeSoto Park, Treasure Island, north thruu Clearwater. Here are some pics of the trip. Ran into a lady during one of my stops who along with her husband are members of the Indiana Fire Buffs Assoc. and she took some pics of the Crown to send back to Indiana. Nice lady and glad to have met her. Small world these fire truck clubs huh!!!

First 2 pics are me taking shots from inside the cab while driving over the Howard Frankland Bridge and then the other is just when I was entering Fort DeSoto Park.
